Ray (Rice) not expected to play

Not entirely unexpected but I thought maybe he'd get a series or two. With Baltimore having wrapped up the AFC North title, Ravens RB Ray Rice is not expected to play today.

I'd say if anyone on the offense could afford to rest today it's Rice.

Re: Ray (Rice) not expected to play
I think I'm okay with it - Rice is too valuable to risk. That said, I still want the Ravens to go out and win the game for momentum's sake. Rest those who need it, but don't take it as a bye week. It rarely ever works.

Re: Ray (Rice) not expected to play
I'm excited to see what BP does on a full game load and since Ant Allen is most likely the 2nd guy, to see how he does with more carries.

We will probably see an air attack most of the day. Try to kick start the passing O on the road.

Re: Ray (Rice) not expected to play
Does kind've stink, this will be RR's lowest rushing yardage since his rookie year...oh well
The only disappointing thing about this was I had hoped we might try to get out there and see if we could extend the offensive rhythm we found against the Giants. That would help break two ?s going into the postseason (Can Joe produce on the road, and is Caldwell better than Cam?). Sounds like we're going to play it safe, try to let Joe build a small lead, then pull pieces off the field.
Sounds like a day I might be better off keeping the kids entertained and NOT watching..

Re: Ray (Rice) not expected to play
It kinda sucks that this game is being poo-pooed so badly. I have waited for this rematch all season. You'd think Ray Rice would be dying to play with his record against the Bengals. Oh well, I will be watching every snap.

Re: Ray (Rice) not expected to play
Agree. I hope this means they feel like they've worked out the offense enough to where they don't need this game to help continue the escape from the clutches of the Cam Era.
But I can't imagine that's the case. IMHO the team needs all the reps humanly possible as it adjusts to Caldwell. But I do understand the move.No one likes us, and we don't care.

@RussellStReport: Rumors swirling that Flacco will get significant time next to Ray Rice on the bench today in Cincy.

Re: Ray (Rice) not expected to play
I agree Cincy...I guess it doesn't have the dramatic playoff implications like some of the other games. But, it is a divisional game and it will be fun to watch our respective teams anyway! Congrats on your team making the playoffs...it was nice to see your guys knock the Squeelers out of contention this year. In fact, it was pretty friggin' sweet.

Re: Ray (Rice) not expected to play
Well, I don't agree with resting starters before the playoffs as that never seems to work out for teams, but if you are going to rest Ray Rice you may as well rest Flacco and the rest of the starters with him.
I can assure you that Tom Brady will be playing all four quarters of his "meaningless" game and trying hard to stay hot.

Re: Ray (Rice) not expected to play
Okay, this kind of pisses me off. I thought this was a game they still wanted to win. Not to mention it would be nice to see if our guys kept up the momentum from last week. I get that we need to rest people for the playoffs but sometimes they have shown it makes them rusted, not rested. I don't feel real good about Flacco sitting on the bench today unless we have a pretty solid lead. Just MHO

Re: Ray (Rice) not expected to play
I'm definitely not in favor of resting offensive starters today. We need momentum heading into the playoffs. This offense is not built to turn it off for one week and fire it up the next. We should have all hands on deck.

Re: Ray (Rice) not expected to play
I agree with edgecrusher. Caldwell will be calling his first road game since becoming OC. You would think this would need to be a huge tune-up for the offense to get itself moving for the playoffs.

Re: Ray (Rice) not expected to play
I thnk there is no issue sitting only rice on offense with bpierce getting reps and the rest of the pieces in it may even challenge the playcalling and decision making a bit more.
That said on one or two series he is hardly likely to get injured.... Oh wait. But I would really like to see him at least dressed for morale standpoint, like we are trying to win.
