The interview with AP was great. He didn't even know he was 9 yards short. Gotta love AP. Too bad he didn't get the record, but it was a great game to watch.

Was hoping he'd miss the kick so they'd get OT

Second, it was clearly not a fumble as the ball crossed the goal line prior to his right knee touching.

Like I said, 100% correct. I swear, the hate Carey gets around here is astounding sometimes.

Oh, I fully grasp what you're saying. The problem is, it's irrelevant. The rule doesn't mention anything about "WHEN the replay official buzzed the review down." It just says that in ANY situation where an automatic review would occur but a challenge flag is thrown, said review will not occur and a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty will be assessed.

The play in question was called a turnover on the field and all turnovers are automatically reviewed. Ergo, when the call was made and McCarthy threw the flag, the review is cancelled.

What Mike Carey announced was nothing other than nonsensical bullshit. It was totally irrelevant to the application of the rule.

    AD is amazing.

I was really pullling for him...great player and from all appearances a great person.

Incredible that he was able to do this in a year with so few options on the rest of the offense...really reminds me of Jamal's year.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

The former head of officiating explained it.

I'll take Pereira's word as what the actual rule is.

That game was great. Nice to see the Packers not rest anyone and play their butts off against a division opponent.

Without a doubt. Everyone knew AP was getting the ball much like Jamal, yet he still put up huge numbers. Very impressive.

Yes. Loser of this game is out. Winner is NFC East champs.

Thanks. It will be funny to watch Danny Boy come up short. Except for RGIII, which I actually think deserves it.

That's your prerogative, but saying "it's right because I said so" doesn't really prove much. Pereira isn't flawless, far from it.

He's about 50% on whether or not a call on the field will be reviewed as the Fox Sports "rules consultant" this year.

Would you like to know Pereira's background? He was a side judge (never a head referee) in the 96-97 season under... you guessed it... Mike Carey. (Just an FYI, the side judge has 2 jobs: counting the number of defensive players on the field and helping call field goals.)

What a day. Houston went from home field advantage to now having to play next weekend.

Denver went from losing their first few games to being the team to beat with 11 straight wins and now the #1 seed.

    The mighty Steelers are home.

The defending Super Bowl Champion Giants are out.

And for all the crap that has gone on this year, injuries, poor play, etc, and the Ravens could play a JV game today and still host a playoff game next week.

This is why they play the games. NFL is a week-week league. It's pretty crazy.

Got a link to back that up?

Uhh, he was also the Senior Vice President of Officiating.

And no, that's not even close to everything a side judge does:

    Per NFL.com ....

"Definition: The official that lines up 20 yards deep in the defensive backfield. His duties are essentially the same as the back judge:
    • Make sure the defensive team has no more than 11 players on the field
    • Watch all eligible receivers on his side of the field
    • Watch the area between the umpire and field judge
    • Rule on the legality of catches and pass interference penalties
    • Watch for clipping on kick returns"

the NFL is wild isn't it? I tell you what I for one am priud of this Ravens team we have faced more adversity that would have sent other ball clubs into a downward spiral, but some how amongst the injuries, Cam Cameron, makeshift Oline and top 5 toughest schedule, we won the division and will host another playoff game even if we are one and done they exceeded my expectations.

Losing 4 of the last 5 sure looks like a downward spiral to me. I really hope they can just turn it on in the playoffs but I'm so sure they'll be able to.
