I"ll take that on 3rd and 8 everytime. NE lost thier really only deep threat in Gronk.

I don't so much see this as a D chess game but swarm and not give Brady time and as against the Giants and Seattle this year a frustrated Brady isn't Brady.
Pees is the key to this game IMHO or Brady will move in 10 yard chunks wearing down the D and getting 7 or at least 3 consistently.
Holding them to 3's consistantly and the Ravens win this big. Your D won't be able to stop Flacco, Rice, Torrey, Jacoby and Pitta from scoring TD's. You can have 3's if we're hitting 7's to answer.

As for wearing down the D? Look at the snaps played in the past 2 playoff games. This D is playing possesed. Sure you'll get some tired looks late in the game here and there, and than they get mad and make you pay for it.

    Aaron Wilson ‏@RavensInsider

Ray Lewis allowed eight catches for 97 yards against Broncos on eight passes targeted in his area, according to Pro Football Focus.

He CAUGHT that ball on the sideline(out of bounds and still breaks his arm!) Just because Houston is a STUPID defense with a poor secondary and predictable doesnt think make me think NE wont miss him alot. Houston ran the same defense on every play, blitz every 3rd down!!! Never changed coverages. Houston gave up about 27 points a game in the last 6-7 games.
Not crazy at all. As I mentioned in my earlier post they didn't lose a beat when they played without him for the last 4 games of the regular season. They still put up the numbers and the Ws.

They didnt play good teams. Having Gronk with Hernandez is a really difficult. They will get thier points in any game. YOU HAVE TO GAMEPLAN FOR GRONK, he is their ONLY legit deep ball threat. Gronk and Hernandez are the only receivers that make me nervous. Everyone else is average or system player. Gronk is an elite talent. I cringe at Reed having to tackle him. Gronk will get 10 targets a game and makes everyone else more open. Houston is crap. They should of lost to Jax and Detroit if not for miracles. They were the worst team in the AFC playoffs, lucky they played the Bengals at home. Notice that on the FIRST blitz play by Houston, they threw a jump ball sideline pass downfeild to Gronk over 6 ft DB's. He CAUGHT THE BALL and BROKE HIS ARM, thats amazing.

This is true, but it does not mean that losing Gronk does not hurt the Patriots significantly.

For all we know, if they'd had Gronk in those games, they may have scored even more points, even faster and more easily.

In other words, maybe losing Gronk drops their offense from an A+ down to an A-. It's still very good, but not quite as dangerous as it could be with Gronk.

It should also be noted that the Pats (without Gronk) did not "put up the W" in week 15 against the 49ers.

They gave him a good run defense grade though...

We can't win this game comparing stats or player history or coaching performances. We have to win this one on guts and emotion. If guys like Ray and Ed and Haloti and Suggs can reach down somewhere and relive some past glory, we win. Otherwise . . . It's tough to beat Billthecheat twice in one season. And they are home. And the network and the NFL want the Patriots in the SB, not the Ravens. No conspiracy; just human nature.

As usual, hoping the team makes a fool of me.

It's not about Ray or Ed. It's about Flacco and the offense who btw are pretty damn good.

So you say we win by outscoring the Brady Bunch? I hope you're right, but that will happen only if our D (see above) can slow down the Patriot's O.

I think its about winning LOS on both sides of the ball, that has been the common theme in thier last 3 games vs NYG, INDY and Denver.

It really doesn't matter that Gronk is out. The Patriots always find ways to plug other guys in to fill holes. Brady will get his yards and TDs like always. Key every single time we play them is to disrupt Brady's timing often enough by rushing him and jamming his receivers to force FGs and limit the damage. Some pressure on him personally will cause turnovers and the classic Brady move of short-arming his passes into the dirt. On offense, we can and will score as long as Wilfork is contained.

If it didnt matter, why did they give him a 5 year 50 million contact. It's a huge loss, ask any NE fan or press member. You wont hold NE to 17 Points at home, but its a big loss. Thier is not one player who can cover Gronk on the Ravens. They can key on Hernandez now. They will get thier 23-30 points, but not 40. If they score 23-30 points the Ravens will be in the game to the wire.

You can never tell with Belichick. He hurt his thumb for a ball carrier could be a major injury. Ball security. Players will be ripping at it. He will be a gametime decision, bet the ranch on it.
