Cool Flacco Story
Apparently his former High-School Calculus teacher now does sports writing.

OK, where did Flacco fall, said, fearing the worst.
“He was in the highest level,” Tanier said. “He was a really smart kid. There were 4 or 5 of his teammates in his class.” Also in his class was Flacco’s future wife.
Tanier described Flacco as “quiet, dedicated, and very serious.” Still, he showed his quarterback qualities in class.
“When we had a group project, he took on the leadership position,” Tanier said.Yet Tanier admits he isn’t completely objective when it comes to Flacco. He wants his former student to finally reach the Super Bowl.
“I absolutely root for him,” Tanier said. “I’ve never hidden the fact that I’m an Eagles fan. If they’re out of it, then I’m a Ravens fan.. This is a kid I used to see fool around with his buddies before class. It’s like any teacher. You want your former students to do well.

Love that SI article. I'm looking forward to getting my mag today or tomorrow. That's one to keep.

Re: Cool Flacco Story
I bet Roethlisberger didn't take any calculus in high school.
I wonder how far Flacco could throw a football in high school.

Re: Cool Flacco Story
The "purple uniform" could be a reference to the jersey or the helmet, both of which have purple on them even when the team is in visitor's whites. Or it could be a little poetic license.
Not sure why that was so exciting...Festivus
His definitions and arguments were so clear in his own mind that he was unable to understand how any reasonable person could honestly differ with him.

Re: Cool Flacco Story
Props from a cretin are pretty worthless. Petey Pawn is a mediocre wordsmith whose bloated reputation rests entirely on the fact that for some incomprehensible reason a fair hunk of the NFL slips him information. As for gridiron acumen, about 3/4 of the posters on this board have a better grasp of the game--& I'm sick of reading about the travails of his lumpish family & his travel whines & caffeine addiction. One of these days maybe some Starbucks employee in a town whose team he dissed will recognize him & do the sports world a favor by slipping strychnine into his Triple-Shot Marshmallow Caramel Free-Trade Latte....
