Thread: Webb

    Re: Webb

While I feel bad for guys like McClain and Webb it could be worse. One could have not gotten resigned by a team they played for their entire career only to sign with a team with SB hopes and see it falling apart. Ladies and Gentlemen I introduce to your Jarrett Johnson. Now that's a guy I feel bad for.

One guy I don't feel sorry for? Ben Grubbs, he had it all, big contract playing in his hometown making preparations to host the Superbowl. Oh the irony.

I thought that I read that you get a ring if you were on the roster for one nanosecond during the season, including training camp. Now, the winner's shares I think that they're a bit more protective over.

I'm pretty sure the part about automatically getting a ring if you were on the roster for one day is not true. Otherwise at least 75-90 players will be getting rings if you want to include the ones that cut during training camp.

Vinny Cerrato stated matter of factly(and he should know, from his SF days) that it's entirely up to the team owner as that's who foots the bill.

Anybody know where I can get a real Webb jersey?
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

That sucks...they only have the screen printed ones for him. I'm a little surprised he doesn't have one of the elite ones.

As to the will he get a ring thing...of course he gets a ring.

The league pays for 150 of them...and I'm sure every active and IR player will get a ring along with the practice squad players to go along with the coaches, FO and Castle employees.

Cam also deserves a ring and I'm sure Steve will offer him one. Hell, I'd give Kindle one too...he made it through the majority of the season on the team.

Yup, corey graham has practically saved our season. Chykie brown has contributed solidly too

There's truth to that. As I understand it, the FO made Grubbs an offer and he turned us down. I think they also tried to keep JJ but he made more money with the Chargers. That tempers my sympathy. I would have more sympathy for guys who really wanted to be here and the FO cut them loose (perhaps a Todd Heap, Kelly Gregg or Derrick Mason).

I heard Scott Garceau on the radio this week say that he was awarded a ring back in 2001, just cuz he was the play-by-play guy. So it seems they're pretty lenient regarding who gets one! I would think that anyone who played a down during the regular season will get one (that includes Kindle, I believe).

+1 They chose to sign deals elsewhere. Nothing against that, but I'm damn sure not feeling bad for them.

Funny thing, Mel Kiper gave that draft a B based on getting Webb and he dropped it from an A for drafting Oher.

Just think how much stronger we'd be next week with Webb vs that so called pistol offense and we still should wim w/o
him. It shows how much talent
and depth we have plus JImmy has been out all year too. Ozzie keeps drafting and signing these guys off the
street when someone goes down and the Ravens keep winning w/o mising a beat.

Lombardi's Packers did the same thing. They were like inter-changeable parts when Jim Taylor went down and
Elijah Pitts came in to beat us or Bart Star went down and Zeke Bratkowski came in to beat us.

Ravens are made the same winning way.

Webb will still get his ring and pay day.
    Pic of a natural act.

I think Ed Reed goes a long way towards making sure our guys are properly in position and that this is one of the reasons we seem to be able to insert almost anyone (Josh Wilson, Danny Gorrer, Cary Williams, Chykie Brown, Corey Graham) and have them play at a stud level. Even Jimmy, when healthy, was playing very solidly.
