You were the ones talking about how you weren't ready to give Flacco a contract and how he needed to prove it. You were the ones talking about how Flacco needed to show what he was made of, after Cameron was let go. You can't sit there and say that, only to backtrack on your willingness to pay him what you challenged him to prove he was worth (Which was Elite QB money), especially if they win the Super Bowl. What if he gets the Super Bowl MVP?

Let's be real here, that 70 yard TD pass brought this team back from the dead. Their season was five feet under before that throw.

He outplayed Brady last year and should have led the game winning drive to get the team to the Super Bowl, on the road no less. He outplayed Manning this year and outplayed Brady again this year, and this time it really wasn't even close.

Joe Flacco's used to be criticized for being a hanger on of sorts, a game manager who benefited from Rice and the defense. Well, Rice hasn't had the best postseason running the ball and Joe's still lighting it up. Joe's arm has now become the 'key' reason why the Ravens are the best team in the AFC, and, perhaps, the NFL.

8 TDs 0 Ints, before the Super Bowl. If the Ravens win and Joe plays well, it's a wrap, he's getting 20 million plus, with 40 plus in guarantees over the length of the deal.

People are also overlooking another important aspect of Flacco's deal. HE SIX YEARS YOUNGER THAN BREES! SIX! He's already had massive playoff success, and now, sans Cam Cameron, one of the best playoff runs for a QB in NFL History (In the ball park). 8 TDs 0 Ints, and back to back road victories against two future first ballot hall of famers.

Instead of seeing what you had in the guy after the Houshmandzadeh drop and the Evans drop, you still couldn't separate Cameron's impact from Flacco's and you told Flacco to prove it. What he accomplished under Cameron is darn near astonishing in itself. Now that he has a better OC calling plays out there, he's on fire.

He makes a statement about how he was the best and how he had to have that sort of confidence to be successful. People gave him heat for it. Cameron got fired and people told him to shut up and prove his worth. He's proved his worth.

    Pay the man right.

Newsflash Ravens fans, you have a top quality QB and this is what they can cost.
You can't base an entire contract on the previous 3 games played. You have to look at the entire body of work. Ozzie knows this. Joe will get paid, and will get paid well, but many other QB's have outplayed Peyton Manning head to head, it doesn't mean they deserve to be paid more than him.

Over 60 wins in his first five years? So, we can say that most of those wins were mainly due to the defense, but we can undermine the impact of a Super Bowl run of this magnitude? Let alone in general.

Look at the age of all of the guys we are physically and monetarily comparing him to:

    Drew Brees: 34
    Tom Brady: 35
    Peyton Manning: 36
    Eli Manning: 32

He is at least four years younger than all of them and is already in the conversation. There's a fee for that.

Ben is only two years older than him and he's already breaking down, as we expected.

The only comparable guy is Rodgers.

I would sign Flacco to a slightly more expensive Eli Manning type deal, thats who he compares to in my mind.

Says the guy who said that Joe Flacco was an above average QB who would never be Elite, who would never be more than an above average QB.

At the time thats how he was playing, I didn't see this coming, but nobody did with Eli either.

I did. I tried to tell you what the problem really was.

The difference is that A LOT of us saw this coming with Joe. We saw the unmatched physical talent. We saw the plays he made year in and year out in the playoffs, only to be let down by his receivers (how many game winning playoff TDs has he had dropped now? Housh, Boldin, Evans... Am I missing any?) We saw the consistency issues for what they were, a symptom of Cam, not Joe.

We knew it was only a matter of time before he was given the chance to put the team on his back with a viable offensive strategy and when that day came, he would make fools of the doubters.

    That day has come.

    Pay the man.

The man had an Offensive Coordinator whose job, correct me if I'm wrong, is to put his offensive talent in the best position to succeed through play calling. Yet, he felt that audibles were overrated and that he didn't want a QB who had to get into a rhythm? He actually said that foolishness out of his mouth?

I mean, look at the drastic change in the way the offense runs, since that man was fired:

Ray Rice in space and in motion more frequently.
Boldin in the slot more frequently
    More frequent use of stacks
Using the 15 Yard In to combat the deep double cover over top of Torrey
McKinnie (Finally in shape) at LT. Oher at RT. Osemele at LG.
More freedom at the line of scrimmage for Flacco.
Ray Rice cutting to the middle of the field to keep the screen pass alive when the defense makes the initial read on it.
Joe Flacco's improvement on the move, both inside and outside of the pocket.

Damn near everything we've called for, for years.

Dude, Flacco's entire body of work is gonna be darn near impossible to replicate for any new QB's run in a five year stretch. WITH Cameron here as the OC, Flacco was already impressive. The 'inconsistency' everybody loves to carry on about was a symptom of the calls, not the quarterback. Flacco has done everything asked of him AND MORE and this postseason run isn't just three games, it was a glimpse of what could have and should have been a couple of years ago 'till now if we had just told Cam to stuff it. THIS is what we've had under center. THIS is what we've been wanting to see in Baltimore for far too long. THIS is what Harbs wanted during the AFCCG when he said, 'This isn't working, we have to open it up, we gotta get aggressive,' on the sidelines. The defense definitely carried Joe for his first two years. After that, it's been all Joe despite having less than stellar parts to work with. Now that we actually have more than one reliable receivers and an OC that's willing to use every part of the field, this is what we're looking at.

I'm not saying Joe should be paid like a great. I'm not saying I wouldn't love him to take 16 or 17 million instead just so we have more room to maneuver. I'm just saying that this price didn't come out of nowhere and it's not just about three postseason games. It IS about his entire body of work and what the team realizes could have been far earlier if we'd just done what we needed to do instead of waiting because our backs were against the wall. He's gonna get paid for his body of work, and seeing as how it's phenomenal, he's gonna get what he wants.

I always loved how we were simply kool aid drinking purple glasses wearing homers for saying Flacco had the potential to do exactly what he's doing, and they were just REALISTS who saw Joe for what he REALLY WAS. And if we just stopped BALLWASHING it would be SO OBVIOUS.

Welp, I always knew time would prove me right... Feels good man. Feels good.

All I know man is that while my dad just a month ago was all, 'God, Flacco just doesn't have it,'. I say, 'What's, 'it,'?,'. 'I don't know, he's just not good,'. My jaw dropped, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I kept telling him that he can't catch the ball too, and it's gonna take more than 1.6 seconds for ANY QB to go through his reads and let go of the ball but nobody ever wanted to hear that. Now he's finally got the protection and the receivers he needs to do his job (and well!) and everybody wants to pretend like they believed all along. I called my dad out on it last week and I'll call anybody else out on it too. It does indeed feelgoodman.jpg.
