Can the Ravens just lock themselves in a closet....
for the rest of the week?
Because the team is starting to look like a freak show.
Between Ray Lewis and all the excessive hype and now the deer antler shit... Joe's "retard" statement, then Ed Reed's statements about Ray probably playing 10 games next year and "I played football so my son doesn't have to" comment, to Mike Flacco quitting pro baseball to try to get into the NFL when he didn't even play in college.... is getting a bit ridiculous. No wonder the world love to hate this team. I'm even shaking my head.
The Ravens need to shut up and hide, because the media is going to set them up and throw them under the bus every chance they get.

I don't think they much care how these things are perceived. We are the only ones who key in on this.

Mike Flacco isn't a Raven.
Calm down, people can use it to hate on the Ravens all they want...
Know who doesn't give a shit about it?

This is no different than every other media week. It means nothing about the game. The players are just going to have fun with it and then focus on what actually matters which is winning.

Re: Can the Ravens just lock themselves in a closet....
I've never agreed with a message board comment as much this one. Regular journalism today is what the National Enquirer was like when I was growing up. The main objective today is to be the first to get their story out there, get the most hits and be the most controversial. Gone are the days where reporters actually did research and wrote factual articles. I guess it's just part of the downside of the internet and technology boom."My seven year old Labrador Retriever could put up a better offensive game plan than Cam Cameron." - rharris1986

I can't help but laugh at a thread like this. Other than the Ray Lewis story that inevitably blew up is anything else you mentioned a big deal? Nah. Nah it isn't.

Yep... if that's all ya got... i guess that's all ya got....

Regardless of where we are today (and I'm glad we're here), that 8-8 thread came a hell of a lot closer to fruition than any of you would like to admit.
I think the meaning of my post (it's tough for some to actually read what I wrote) has gone over your head. I'm not really faulting the Ravens... But STFU Ravens. It's obvious the media is going to take everything you say, reshape it and take it out of original context to try to embarrass you, the organization and the fan base.

Let the media do their thing to try and distract the Ravens. It worked oh so well for them in 2001, eh?

Well, I just came from the watching the team. What you may think is happening is not. There were 50 cameras around Ray Lewis and his message was amazing. Just listening to his answers, and his wisdom was worth the $30. The team looks great, is really happy to be here, is loose and ready to play.

Re: Can the Ravens just lock themselves in a closet....
What do I have to do with Ski Bayless?
At what point does some of this shit actually become a distraction to the team. At what point does Steele and Byrne calling a team meeting (or a meeting with coaches) to fill them in on the potential PR nightmare that is occurring become a distraction of what should be going on?
What is wrong with me implying that the Ravens need to do less talking and spend more time avoiding the media and press, and hunker down and focus? I am certainly not hating on the Ravens... I've been here since 96'. I just don't want them getting sucked into this downward spiral. And yes, I try not to put much stock into what the media says about Bmore, but I do care about our teams nation image.

Re: Can the Ravens just lock themselves in a closet....
If anything, this nonsense will just make the team more focused. If there were ever a team in NFL history that was able to use distractions to its advantage, it's the Ravens.
