Thanks for sharing. That is a great article. I particularly liked this quote.

Newsome did more with his undrafted free agents than Matt Millen did with actual draft picks during their shared time as general managers.

Not bad for someone who supposedly hates the Ravens huh? lol
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Re: Great article on Ozzie by Grantland

One of the best articles I ever read. Thanks so much.

Ozzie studied under Bellicheat in Cleveland? I thought it was the other way around. Bellicheat did nothng
in Cleveland and Art fired him. He went back to Parcells where he was his coord in NY on their SB teams
and ended up in NE and grabbed Brady late in the draft and the rest is history. Cleveland fans are pissed
because he did nothing there and then went to all those SBs and got all those rings in NE but only
because he had Brady. Then they lose the Browns who win the SB right away in Bmore.

But Ravens cut Saturday and kept Flynn? ILMAO. That had to be a Billick decision because he liked the
way Flyn called the plays on the line. It was Flynn who was pushed back into Jamal on the first day of
camp and got him injured. He missed the entire 01 season and cost us a second SB trophy. Everyone's
favorite Kelly Gregg was the one who pushed Mike back. Flynn even got the blame for all of Boller's trips
and stumbles. A couple of times it was true, but we had Saturday? I never knew it.

Reed was considered the safe pick at the spot down in the draft but he wasn't that highly regarded
to go in the top 5. He should have been the first player drafted. A lot of us wante Litto Shepherd in the
next spot. He's long gone and Ed is in the SB and the greatest safety that ever played but both Tom
Marr who did the draft radio show at the stadium and Tom Matte were surprised Oz passed on Shepherd.
Like Fllacco, Reed wasn't even on my radar-lol.

As far as the JO draft, I was at the Sheraton for the very first draft party and everyone booed Ozzie
for passing on Lawrence Phillips. I laughed my ass off at them because he spent so much time in
jail, even beating up his girl friend on campus at Nebraska.

Thing is,Art wanted him but Phil Savage said Art, do you want someone who will keep you up all
night every night or someone who will let you sleep in peace. Art said OK, Art got the best LT in
history and Phillips ended up in jail - AGAIN!

As far as Bisciotti wanting Oz to move back up to draft Joe, I heard oz did it because he heard that
Gruden wanted him and so did the Jets but that's why he traded up one spot in front of Gruden to get Joe.

Gruden was soon out of football because he didn't have a QB.

Priest Holmes was the greatest undrafted signee in history but he couldn't move the pile
the red zone here. Billick wanted a pile driver and got Jamal and he went to the SB. Ravens
couldn't afford both and gutted the team including Priest. Is that a cool name or what?

Then Priest signs with KC and Dick Vermiel changed the blocking schemes to accomodate his slashing
style of running which is very similar to Rice's. We lost Priest but still had Jamal who gained over
2,000 yds rushing one year and played a long time.

    IN OZ WE TRUST.
