Re: "Seven Nation" chant & Ravens: is this our intangible "cheesehead", our "terrible towel"?
That's good to hear. When the rewrittten Baltimore Fight Song was introduced a few years ago, it caught alot of grief from folks who said it was outdated, etc. I've noticed that the number of people chanting "Fight, etc..." has grown more and more at M&T. This year i noticed that the number of Fans who actually know most or all the words really increased. Very cool that it was sung at the Super Bowl.
It's all about having fun. If Fans have a good time doing it - so be it.

Being a fan of European soccer, college basketball, as well as liking the song when it first came out, I compare the Seven Nation Army chant by Ravens fans to watching your Great Aunt do the Macarena at a Bar Mitzvah...she's oblivious to how played out it is, but she sure seems to have a good time doing it.

I sing the fight song every morning before a big game, especially if I'm going to it. Maybe because it's so old-school is the reason it gets to me. The melody and the lyrics (even adjusted for the Ravens) just sound classic, kinda like the phrase "Put that bull across the line."

Look at it this way, it's a helluva lot fucking better than "Who Let the Dogs Out?" from the '00 SB run. Good lord, that was awful....

As far as the chant.
I used to love it, and I love hearing it on the road, but man sitting at work and have it randomly echo in my head as if I was at a home game has got to stop. So I would be ok if we found something else, but it doesn't bother me that bad.We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid. - Benjamin Franklin

Cleveland Rocks is a great song, and makes perfect sense for Cleveland to use as an anthem.

Re: "Seven Nation" chant & Ravens: is this our intangible "cheesehead", our "terrible towel"?
I'm all for the 7NA chant being our thing. Don't really care if we were "first" with it, or whether it's used in soccer or at some college games. Hearing that chant rain down in the second half in New England, and hearing it loud and clear during the Superdome blackout... it was thrilling, a way to know just how well the Ravens were traveling this postseason. Those were national games, and in the minds of casual observers that song is now branded to the Ravens. Who cares if other teams play the song in their stadium? I hear Welcome to the Jungle all over the place, but I still associate it with the Bengals. 7NA travels a lot better too.
I don't think this one's going to fade away any time soon.

How about "Ravens Will Soar"? Anybody?
What's worse for Miami Marlins fans than having to endure numerous team fire sales by ownership? Why, that would be having to listen to the dude from Creed offer up a song for the team as a "gift"....

In my country we have a sport called darts ; ) it is becoming more and more popular.
On of the up and coming players is michael van gerwen from holland, who seemingly has become a fan favourite for not only being amazing at throwing darts and being a thoroughly nice bloke but because he has the 7NA chant that fits with his name and has become his theme tune.
OOOOO, ooo, OO, oo, oo, ooooo, oooooo...

Re: "Seven Nation" chant & Ravens: is this our intangible "cheesehead", our "terrible towel"?
I think that it is ours now, and we should take it. Lets not worry about the fact that its been around for years. The O sound is an all encompassing Baltimore sound. We have the Os, and its the sound that we are most known for in our dialect. As in, "Im goin downee OOcean(phonetically almost A- shun.) So i think we should embrace it, and make it even better. We need everyone doing it, and for a long time. Not just half the ppl, and then it fades out after 3 versus. If the whole entire crowd at MandT bust that out for like 10 minutes at our Thursday Opener, that would be amazing, and quite a treat to hear over the telecast.
