What music are you guys into this off season?

Going along with the OT drinks thread Houston started...

I've really been into Periphery's new album: Make Total Destroy.

Listening to some other stuff lately too...Metric, A Skylit Drive, and Of Mice and Men.

I usually go for a jog around the neighborhoods around here and for whatever reason (maybe it is the weather) Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" has really appealed to me.

Right now I am drinking a beer waiting for to go food and listening to Jedi Mind Tricks and Aesop Rock.

If you like hip hop, gotta check these guys out.

Aesop Rock "None Shall Pass" is the truth.

    U2. Always U2.

But when I'm not enjoying them, I've been getting into Mumford & Sons lately.

Oasis over U2 any day for me. I prefer U2 to Coldplay though.

I mostly bounce between bluegrass/alt-country, and reggae. Just found a reggae artist named Wayne Jarrett I really like -- a song called "Every Tongue Shall Tell" has now made it to the #2 position on my iPod jogging mix -- insane psychedelic guitar and reverb effects. Boss tune.

Mixing in my usual dose of Avett Brothers, who we are seeing in April here in Wilmington. Also just got tix for Slightly Stoopid and Tribal Seeds in May. "Warning" by Tribal Seeds is awesome, if you like your reggae a little heavier and edgier.

Recently downloaded Burning Spear's "Live in Paris 1980." The opening track is "Spear Burning" and it will fry your wig!

I saw them live a few summers ago at Bonnaroo. Good show. Really good show.

Tonight Alive is a pop-punk band with a chick singer and they do a cover of Little Lion Man that's pretty good if you're interested.

And I figured you were a U2 fan judging from your Bono avatar. Can't do it man. Just can't. I've never really cared for U2.

I had a band in high school and we opened for Burning Spear one summer (1999-2000). They were cool guys.

Avett Brothers is a really good show too. If you like them, you should really check out Jason Isbell. He was one of the original singers for the Drive By Truckers (one of my favorite bands) and he left and started his own thing (the 400 Unit). Good stuff. He is such a brilliant song writer.

I guess that's one way to put it.

Oasis and Coldplay are two bands that will NEVER occupy space on my iPod.

    Now you're just being silly.

Have you ever heard of Enter the Haggis? Kind of a Scottish punk band with pipes and everything.
