I misrepresented. But it's what I've read from the KC media monkeys that have floated the notion for the past two seasons now: kicking Albert inside. For the present, it seems that once Smith was acquired, some in that town think that now is a good time to make it happen with Joker sitting there for the first pick. This notion has also been paired with the idea of paying Albert less at G than he would demand at T, and putting the savings onto Bowe's tag number, or let Bowe walk and put the savings into Jennings or Wallace. Although, once they let Breaston go, I think Bowe was pretty much a lock to stay onboard via tag or new deal.

Back to Albert, I think he has no doubt heard or read enough of the Guard vs. Tackle sentiment as well. I think that's why he chose to get the "not interested in moving" comment on the record back in January.

That's the interesting thing. Albert has played on both sides but he's better on the left. They brought in in Eric Winston, who blew off his Ravens interview, last year for the right.

    I had forgotten about that.
Hmmm...no ring for you, Eric Winston.

Arguably, if they had brought in Winston then Oher might have stayed on the left and McKinney might have even been cut and all sorts of shit would have happened different.

Yep, left to defend Matt Cassel against fans booing/cheering as Cassel got hurt.

Meanwhile they give Dustin Colquitt (their punter) 5/$18.75m ($8.9m guaranteed), highest paid punter in the NFL (5th para).

Well, I guess he is going to be busy next season...

To be fair, I respect him for that. We went through that with Boller. It's classless.

But yes, he and Evan Mathis both gave up chances for a ring.

Guys don't expect any major FA signings. If anything, we might follow our MO, and sign a talented but undervalued player who was cut from his former team after the draft when he has no other offers. Also, consider signing Kruger, Ellerbe, or C Williams to be our major FA signing. That's essentially what they are now. I'd have to think that we'd give them priority before anybody on the open market.

Bowe got $56 over 5 with half guaranteed.
So basically KC thinks he's a top 5 WR *smh*

I've tried for years, b/c they are seldom a threat to us and I have always liked a lot of their players, but KC is an incredibly hard team to root for.

IMO, this was an absolutely TERRIBLE move by KC. Albert is a slghtly better then average LT, and now they likely will do somthing besides draft the best player in this weak draft with the top pick. Unless they are smart enough to draft Joekel anyway, play him at LG fr a year and then let Albert walk the tfollowing year.

Plus, noodle arm Alex Smith is going to have a hard time maximizing Bowe's talents. I saw stats on twitter yesterday which had Alex Smith as having the least targets over 20 yards and a horrible record when he was asked to throw over 35 times a game.

Edit - Found a writeup on PFF.

While Smith’s stats above took a major uptick starting in 2011, there were still some red flags. While his 70.2 completion percentage last season was impressive, it also showed his unwillingness to take chances and throw the ball downfield. His average depth of target of only 8 yards was the fourth-lowest of all quarterbacks and only 8.7 percent of Smith’s passes traveled 20+ yards downfield in 2012. Among quarterbacks who started at least half their games, only Christian Ponder had a lower percentage.
