@RavenManiac: According to @PFCentral, the Ravens and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe are closing in on a deal in the $30 million price range.

Hopefully this balances out all the panicking involved with Q.

If that's the case, I would expect it to be a six year deal.

You know, deep down, this board does have a pretty good understanding of how the front office works.
"When questioned, the Elders explained that they were in search of magical powers. However, they're actually searching for the whereabouts of a certain ring. This ring is a legendary treasure that long ago was known to exist"

Not buying it just yet until this becomes more substantiated.

Depends on the structure and years, $30 mil sounds like overpaying. Triple what Jameel got. Dannell's better, but not that much better.

    5/$30M would be fair.

    6/$30M preferred.

4/$30M might be a little too rich for Ellerbe IMO.

    Let's hope for 6.

I really don't know what everyone sees in this guy.

    - Injury Prone
    - Has shown up to camp out of shape before
    - Only 1 year of good play
    - Struggles in man coverage
    - Horrible in zone coverage

If you're looking for a downhill linebacker Bart Scott or Takeo Spikes would come much cheaper

    Conflicting reports

@ProFootballTalk: Dannell Ellerbe got quick interest, but hasn't heard an offer from the Ravens http://t.co/SWEFeyA3RZ

FWIW, PF Central is generally a more reliable reporter than PFT. PFC broke the Alex Smith trade news first and has generally been first on the scene to a number of scoops lately.

PFT hasn't actually broken a story to my recollection in a long, long time. Normally they're the first to repeat another outlet's report which they try to pass off as their own.

Yeah PFC is the new leak source. I'd love to know who some of these guys are. Clearly they have connects with agents, because how else would they get this info? I doubt any team employee would risk leaking info.

He's just as injury prone as Ray Lewis was.

Nevermind that he is a great run stuffer and arguably the best ILB pass rusher in the NFL.

This makes no sense. Other outlets are reporting that Ellerbe hasn't received an offer from us yet.

Maybe the Ravens wanted let give Ellerbe the chance to gauge his interest, and came back with an offer this afternoon once everyone knew the parameters.
