youre asking if we needed them to but theres a bunch of different ways to address the issue. Your previous statement was stated in a way that there was no problem that needed fixed to begin with. I disagree that healthcare was working fine the way it was. something needed done whether that was ACA or another option, all of which would include government interaction of some sort (laws, regs, taxes, etc). It certainly wasnt fixing itself.

Thats fine. MSM certainly only speaks truths...
While I share your general disdain for the media, if you have something that disproves NBC's findings, I'd love to see it.

Well know if any changes come about. If it wasnt an oversight, no reason to make changes to it now.

    Oversight?

They specifically put in the bill these plans would cancel if they did not meet these standards. How the fuck is that an oversight?

JAB, this is what he wanted. He lied then and he's lying now.

Sorry my ass. If he was sorry he'd back the House "keep your healthcare plan". But he's said no legislative action is necessary. This is what he wants.

It wasn't an oversight. And anyone that believes that this is possible doesn't understand the law or the record. It was a requirement for the system to even have a chance. And it was known by the administration. It was mentioned in fine print by the administration's studies. It was debated by the administration's inner circle whether to tell the truth about it or not, and the final decision was to bald-faced lie ad nauseam to the public in order to cram the law through. The lie made a powerful sound bite, and truth was of minor consequence to the goal of getting the law passed.

The problem with this particular blatant lie is that there would have been no chance whatsoever the law would have passed had the lie not been told and had it not been completely ignored (let alone defended) by the water-carrying press. The lie was pointed out by critics of the law at the time.

Add to this the fact the administration, wherever possible, interpreted the regulations (about grandfathered plans) so as to deny grandfather status not to accept it, and you can conclude that all that was being said then, and is still being said now, up through the last 'speech,' is nothing more than politically-motivated, outright lying.

We are witnessing full damage control, nothing more.

Figured this thread would be the best place to put these. Anyone want to rush to the laws defense now?

The Obamacare Exchange Scorecard: Around 100,000 Enrollees And Five Million Cancellations

In the market for individually-purchased health insurance, more than 4.8 million Americans have received notices that their preexisting plans are soon to be illegal, and will be cancelled.
No biggie, just an unintended consequence, that's all...

Think ObamaCare Is Bad Now? It Gets Worse Next Year
The most troubling provision in ObamaCare's Section 1311 gives the secretary of health and human services blanket authority to control how doctors and hospitals treat patients. All in the name of improving "quality." That could mean everything in medicine, such as when your OB/GYN should do a Caesarean.

What that means for you is that if you enroll in an exchange plan, with or without getting a subsidy, your care will be standardized by the federal government with an eye to reducing what you consume and how much it costs.

Your doctor may have to choose between doing what's right for you and avoiding a penalty. Exchange plans can pay only those doctors who obey whatever regulations the Secretary imposes.

Yet the President claims that people losing their health plans and having to sign up on the exchanges will be getting a better deal. Losing your doctor, shopping blind for a health plan, settling for Medicaid-level care and government controls, all for a premium 41% higher than before and with a deductible that's doubled? Sounds substandard to me.

Right now, most people getting cancellations bought plans in the individual market. Wait until the other shoe drops in 2014, and millions of people who had on-the-job coverage lose it. The truth about ObamaCare will become so painfully obvious that even the White House lie machine can't cover it up.
Ah, nothing to see here. It's not like anybody warned against this or anything.

It will get much much worse as thousands more will lose the plans they now enjoy as their employers won't be able to afford them.

That from an analyst in NY.

Do you have the full text? Unless you're a member, you can't read the full article.

And unless it's in the text we can't read, this isn't Obama supporting any bill. It's him simply saying he's open to the idea of making changes. Like he has a choice?

Presently, there are four Bills being crafted, all by red state Dems who are running scared of Obamacare. This is a nightmare scenario for them and the President.

I actually prefer health insurance being decoupled from business. It's a marriage long overdue for divorce.

If you google the same article it comes up for free. not sure why its pay site by that link, im not a member either.

Its basically saying hes (carney) supporting the Democrats version and not the republican. you can keep your old insurance but the insurance co cant add new people to it. so theyre grandfathered, but like everyone is saying, itll eventually die from not having new signups and being non profitable for the company itself by not having new healthier people to pay for those older ones.

insurance has always worked off the young paying for the old, so im not sure why its a shocker that the ACA needs young insurers to work as well. Seems some have issue with that, which im not sure why thats a reason to hate ACA.
