As with every guy, depends on the deal. But I think he's still got some gas in the tank. reminds my of Boldin with a bit more speed.

Really surprised by the lack of love for Smith. He brings Boldin's toughness and a reliable target on 3rd down.

Why doesn't anybody want Steve Smith?

    Just curious.

His age is a big turnoff. If he agrees to a 1 year veteran minimum deal then yes.

He's 35 and frequently calls out his teammates publicly.

Not to mention this years draft is deep with WR's.

I just asked the same thing. Not understanding it at all. Yes, he's up their in age, but we're not signing him to a 4 year deal.

I don't think signing Smith...or any other receiver will keep the team from drafting one or 2.

As for Smith the player...eh...I could go either way. I certainly would not be expecting Smith of 5-6 years ago...but I do think he'd bring a lot of toughness and reliability to the table.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

I think we may need somebody who isn't afraid to call somebody out.

Steve Smith is still a capable guy. And he is one of the fiercest competitors to ever play in the NFL.
