A Classic Coaching Blunder
Gibbs calls 2 straight timouts, which is a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty. That shortened Buffalo's FG attempt from 51 to 36 yards. Lindell hits and Buffalo wins. Unreal coaching mistake.
You all still hate Billick?

Re: A Classic Coaching Blunder
Yeah, I still do. Gibbs was pretty hilariously stupid there though
And how about Chris Redman playing fairly decently for ATL today, almost come back to get the Rams. Add a little bit more rotten egg to the mix there. If Redman plays well, the rest of the year then it's going to get REALLY ugly in these fan circles.

Re: A Classic Coaching Blunder
Why did it take Jauron to tell the dumbass referees to call it?
I was laughing my ass off.

Re: A Classic Coaching Blunder
We didn't see what was happening but the refs may have gotten it without Jauron. The refs may have been checking with each other to make sure one of them saw Gibbs or some other Dumb$kin calling for a TO.
It was a dumb mistake but his first kick from 51 was good and the second looked like it would have been as well, though from 36 it took quite a bit of pressure off the kicker.

Re: A Classic Coaching Blunder
That was hilarious. Totally inexcusable for a Hall of Fame coach like Gibbs to make this mistake, but I guess it's just more proof Old Man Gibbs is washed up and continues to tarnish his legacy.
Suck it, Deadskins.

Biggest coaching blunder of that game was the Bills OC not going with a hail mary when the skins only put 10 defensive players on the field. I get the statement, but theres a time and a place, and during regulation play is neither. They are just lucky the bills OC has more class then I would in that situation.

Re: A Classic Coaching Blunder
On the topic of other games, I am really start to like the Jags more and more. They almost beat the Colts today, they could be tough in the playoffs. Two very good runners, Garrard really looks good, excellent OL and DL, if they had a good pass defense they would be elite (their pass defense is worse than ours).
I think they beat the Steelers in 2 weeks (I think that's when they play). Could be a team no one wants to see in the playoffs, unless your name is the Patriots in which case you don't care...

Time has passed Gibbs.
The game has changed since he was coaching before
He needs to leave this year.

Billick stinks at clock and TO management. But he's never done anything that stupid.

Re: A Classic Coaching Blunder
I for one, think that the kicker would still have made that kick even without Gibbs making that second time-out call...He's the guy who kicked that 52 yarder against us if I do recall...That boy is MONEY
He's like 16 in a row I believe...Someone tell me if I am wrong

Re: A Classic Coaching Blunder
I'm sure that's the highest paid coaching staff in the league, and NOBODY knew about the rule that you can't call consecutive time-outs? Gibbs does certainly appear to be over the hill now, but Al Saunders, Gregg Williams, Joe Bugel -- haven't these guys all been head coaches themeselves at some point? And none of them whispered, "Joe, don't call another time-out, it's a fifteen yard penalty."
I'm glad it backfired on them -- I am really sick of these last second time-outs right before a field goal attempt.

Re: A Classic Coaching Blunder
I agree, they should not allow these "right before the ball snap" timeouts. I know why they do it; but it is really bush league. Furthermore, it doesn't work with experienced kickers. Don't you think the kickers have come to expect it? Joe Gibbs really screwed it up and he needs to retire for good and go back to race car driving.

Re: A Classic Coaching Blunder
It's a shame too.
The game has passed up Gibbs and its starting to make his HoF entrance a bit suspect.
I did like the 1st play of the game when they only had 10 on defense in honor of their missing player. That was classy.WARNING: This post may contain material offensive to those who lack wit, humor, common sense and/or supporting factual or anecdotal evidence. Re: A Classic Coaching Blunder
I agree, it was a nice move, but I was a little disturbed at the news that Gibbs knew nothing about it. Shoudn't the head coach know something about that?
