Re: Does it really matter to you if we lose
I hope we win only because it is more fun for me to watch a game when we are winning. So for three hours I could be in an elevated mood.
That being said if we come out and turn the ball over three times in a row and are down 24-zip midway through the 2nd qtr. I am not going hang myself, sell my PSl, or really be shocked in any way.
If a friend from out of town calls and says, "yo man, your team just lost to the phins" and starts laughing, I will probably laugh back and say, "yeah, the ravens suck dude".
The first 11 games were painful enough...I am numb and desenitized to raven pain at this point. I would love to see a win and I do think the Ravens win large in this game. There have been greater depths of disappointment this season for me than could exist if my 4-9 Ravens slip to 4-10 because they lost to the dolphins who mean absolutely nothing to me.

Re: Does it really matter to you if we lose
If we lose with Boller at the helm and its because of his usual 'road' play, then YES, its a big deal!!!
If Boller gets injured and Smith comes in, then NO, it wouldn't be a big deal.....
As far as our pick status, I'd like to see them trade down for more picks, as long as Matt Ryan was off the board. If someone like Darren McFadden was there, I'd love to hold that over Jerry Jones' head. He give up 2 firsts and 2 seconds to get him.......

Re: Does it really matter to you if we lose
I am in the minority here, but I want the highest position on the draft board possible at this point. I am an all or nothing thinker here. We are not going to the playoffs or Super Bowl, so what good does it do to finish higher than we are? How do you think the Super Bowl loser feels after the game? At that point, being number 5 in the draft is better than being number 31.
You may not feel that way now, because the season is not over and everyone wants their team to win. However, in a few weeks, all this will blow over and the focus will be on the draft. I agree with Crazy Raven.

Re: Does it really matter to you if we lose
Why do you think these same teams are continually picking in the top 10 year after year? Picking high isn't a good thing, you expend too much cap and get very little more in value.I am in the minority here, but I want the highest position on the draft board possible at this point. Lower is better.

Because you have some GMs who are picking WRs year after year after year. Why do you think these same teams are continually picking in the top 10 year after year?
I'd take the higher pick. Heck we maybe able to parley that into more. We've done it before.WOW! I feel so fortunate that the Ravens did what they had to do to make this happen. Thank you. Yes, it matters to me. Who wants to lose? I don't understand not caring if you lose or not.

Re: Does it really matter to you if we lose
I do admit, a small part of me wants the guys to lose ... but only because of some coaching mistake.

Re: Does it really matter to you if we lose
Hell yeah lower is better! You get decent value for your pick and don't have to spend the farm to get it. Of course, the Ravens lucked out GREATLY in getting JO at #4, but how often does that happen? Thank God the Ravens didn't take Lawrence Phillips!

Re: Does it really matter to you if we lose
This is true, and yet your regular Joe Blow fan doesn't understand this. The talent difference between a top 5 draft pick and your standard low first rounder is not worth the increase is cap space you pay to him.
Guys like Ed Reed and Ray Lewis can be had at the tail end of the 1st round.
Drafting high just means more risk.
Yeah, its petty, but I understand why he's saying it.....
No, this is not to be understood or forgiven. This sort of fan sentiment is the sort of thing that led to Irsay moving the Colts.
You root for you own team. Period. F*ck draft position, or politics. You never bet against your own team.
This phenomenon in sports fandom has to die, that you care about the politics of the sport more than winning itself.

So when we got JO in the top 5 we blew it? Give me a break. This is true, and yet your regular Joe Blow fan doesn't understand this. The talent difference between a top 5 draft pick and your standard low first rounder is not worth the increase is cap space you pay to him.
Sad to say this but losing today increases our chances of winning in the future. We need help at different positions. Picking at higher positions throughout the draft helps us. Winning today doesnt help. You root for you own team. Period. F*ck draft position, or politics. You never bet against your own team.
Baltimore pride shouldnt get in the way of this. Lets all plan on a loss and move forward next season.WOW! I feel so fortunate that the Ravens did what they had to do to make this happen. Thank you. Re: Does it really matter to you if we lose
I'm with you -- this thread baffles me. Any Ravens fan who is okay losing to an 0-13 team is not a real fan.

If, as a player, you don't come into the game being certain of a victory then you are wasting your time, and your team mates time. The Ravens don't need players who simply go through the motions. they need players with heart, and character. The coaches should be watching for players that just mail it in, and mail them a one way ticket out of town!
