Re: Brian Billick Fired?
Ozzie says Rex Ryan will be interviewed but the best guy will be chosen for the job and if that is Rex then it will be him. They will be calling a lot of people.
Biscuit - I told players that we have a talented group of players and because of that, we will be on any potential head coaches list. Organization is good and any coach should look at Ozzies history and put the Ravens on top of their list.Admin Steve

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
....Brian was told this morning. Brian told the coaches. Biscuit told the players, then the support staff, then the press....

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
That was nice he asked for and received permission to tell his own staff.

His definitions and arguments were so clear in his own mind that he was unable to understand how any reasonable person could honestly differ with him.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
Im giving Bisciotti props on this one ....
Time will tell if letting Billick go was the right thing to do. But it seems clear that it was a drama-free and respectful firing given the circumstances.
I dont see why Billick would not come back for the RoH, should he be inducted.WARNING: This post may contain material offensive to those who lack wit, humor, common sense and/or supporting factual or anecdotal evidence. Re: Brian Billick Fired?
...Ozzie says it is important that the new coach and the new staff get to evaluate the current team before moving forward. McNair will be in for a check up in 30 days. Whoever the next OC, DC and coach is, will have a huge say in the make up of the team....

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
So this was Steve's gut feeling.Sounds like a quick change of heart.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
....Bisciotti went with his 'gut', fears being wrong but has become sucessfull taking chances. Needs to be better than his competitors - 32 teams going for one prize...hopes over time, Baltimore views him as as high a quality owner as Brian has been a coach....

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
Billick statement (not verbatim)- it has been a great ride, we will continue to live here, it is a great organization, the focus is all about winning. Ozzie and Steve are both great friends and I have great respect for every player that has played for me for 9 years. I believe in the partnership that Steve B has and I wish them the best.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
Well, I guess time will tell if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Lets face it, the seasons have been roller coasters. Hopefully the new HC will bring some consistency. And I am referring to the upside of consistency.

Our team's owner is certainly not an eloquent speaker.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
I thank Brian Billick for getting us a SuperBowl but it's time to move on. It's out of our hands and nothing we can do about it. We just hope the next coach can help us get back into contention.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
I saw most of the press conference and don't know yet what I think about how Bisciotti handled this. He seemed very uncomfortable and some of his answers didn't immediately make much sense, and at other times he was generous and eloquent in talking about Billick. But he literally said that he just decided yesterday to fire him, and never really explained what led him to that decision. He doesn't have to explain it, of course, but it all seemed very last-minute.
I hope knows what he's doing.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
Steve definitely appeared to have agonized over this. Honestly folks, something needed to be done on the offensive end. Whether this is the best call or not is yet to be seen.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
Why?
Because I expect the owner of the team to be more prepared and able to answer the questions that are posed to him?
You've got Bisciotti saying that he made the decision yesterday morning and then when Ozzie is asked if he was on board with the decision, he said he knew about it way before yesterday.
Then all Ozzie did was basically give us a job description of an NFL GM.
