Re: Brian Billick Fired?
Oh come on....be serious. Every team in the NFL has a bunch of "me players". TO, CJ, TJ Whoisyoumoma, etc....all "me" players. Why is all of a sudden Ray's fault? Do you actually think he is the only guy in the locker room who thinks Billick isn't cutting it?

The Ravens are a team...if you think Kelly Gregg isn't a team player then I suggest you find one of those other 31 teams to cheer for.M&T Bank Stadium - Section 513

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
I think he does see it that way.
Billick typified the "me" mentality. I like the guy, but Billick has always been know for his uber ego and its not suprising he had a team filled with "me" types as well.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
Most definitely, but I wouldn't show up if I were Billick. The fans, players, and sadly our dumb-ass owner didn't give the man his due respect so he owes us nothing.
Half of you morons on this board and the deadbeat dad on the roof should consider starting a multi-million dollar temp agency. If a dipshit like Bisciotti can do it then I'm sure many of you like minded folks can as well.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
Kelly Gregg is certainly a team player, all he does is flys under the radar and misses the pro-bowl. You gave one guy. AD was the classiest guy to ever play for this organization (besides maybe McCrary). It's a good thing we jettisoned him out of town. He doesn't fit the mold. He couldn't be picked up by a better TEAM either.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
I would hope to hell that the next coach is a hard ass like Tom Coughlin (although he has become sissified lately as well). Let this bunch of whiney babies have to step up and take responsilibility for their own lack of performance for a change instead of having a coach who covers and makes excuses for them. I'm not surprised, in the least, that this happened I think Bisciotti is a lousy owner. Good owners don't let the players make their decisions for them. Billick is better off out of it, there was no way to win with the likes of Lewis and Ogden running the place. He'll probably hire Ryan, what a joke that will be.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
It is a sad day around B-more. Seems bush league to me to put this season on him. I am very disapointed, although I concede Billick has some problems.
Please NO Marty!!!!!

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
I can almost garauntee you one thing. Even if he takes a couple years off to do broadcasting, Brian Billick will have another team back in the Superbowl before the Ravens get back in themselves.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
Well I think a change probably needed to be made, but we won't get a better HC than Billick in, IMO.
I'm now in a state of nervous anticipation for who we get in. As much as things may have been going stale here, they can go a lot further south with the wrong hire.
I'm wondering how long this has been in the pipeline and how much the players knew TBH. By the comments of some of the players, particularly Troy Smith last night, they were very bold comments from a QB who'd just started his second career game. You can either take them as being comments of a true leader or from a guy trying to set his stall out and make an impression on the next HC who would be watching the presser seeing his bold, leader like words.
Just pondering.
Any way, this will be my first HC search as a football fan (Billick and Friedgen all the way for me since I've been a fan) so I'm sort of looking forward to something new in the off-season.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
LOL, now that you mentioned it, I could see the Biscuit doing something completely insane and hiring Friedgen. Perhaps he could see what Gary Williams knows about football. Maybe Gary, Steve, and Ray can hang out together in the bars down at College Park and pick up sorority girls like they are 20 again.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
I wonder if Billick has been told he's fired yet?
Or saw it first as breaking news?Put the smile back on your face. This is a 60 minute ball game.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
Wow.
I have to admit, I was buying the "Billick will be back" talk...if no other reason than I didn't think Stevie B would eat $15+ million.
If he hadn't made the collossal error of the extension last year, I would have thought Billick would be gone in a second.
I don't know what to think...I obviously had grown incredibly tired of Billick and lets face the facts...he was towards the end of most coaches life span with one team at around 10 years.
I just don't know who we will get. I sincerely hope that we don't go after another flavor of the month college coach. I have doubts that it will be a high priced guy as I don't know how much cash Steve wants to kick out.
Rex? Marty? Cowher? A recycled guy? The next new young coach that seems to be the "in" thing now?
I don't know...it will really be interesting though

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
AD would have stayed if we offered the $$, but we were busy paying half the 2001 Tennessee Titan team and saving up to pay Terrell Thugs. AD certainly deserved his payday, and it amazes me that the Patriots can stay competitive year in and out and pay guys like AD and Moss in the offseason. The Colts seem to do the same thing. How come this team has two year windows then goes into cap hell all the time? I guess Billick negotiates the contracts as well.
You give me Stover, a kicker, that's funny. There aren't too many kickers in the history of the game that have been cancers. Boller and Smith haven't really accomplished much to be "me" players yet. Does Heap even play for this team? I thought he was sitting out.
We've seen tantrums from Ogden, Mason, Jailmal, Ray, Suggs, Bart Scott, and C-Mac. Ed Reed is another guy I would put on the "me" player list.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
I think this is something that used to be true but now it's a myth, the idea that the players eventually tune out the coach. There's just so much turnover among the players that they don't stick with a team for very many years, so the idea that they get tired of a coach's message isn't relevant. There are exceptions like Ray and Ogden but they are exceptions.

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
What kind of Owner takes the opinion of Players? What Player is going to say he has had a crappy season? I think the Biscut has shot himself in the foot, the Players now know they have the power over the Head Coach. Oh God, we are the new "Aints", or even the Bidwell Cardinals, or the ??? One more thing, Bisciotti hasn't had the greatest year financially, so he is looking for the cheap way out....Quoth the Raven "Nevermore"

Re: Brian Billick Fired?
Nearly all great players have an ego...It's damn near a requirement to achieve greatness. If not for Ray Lewis and the defensive juggernaut he has been the leader of throughout his career, Billick's tenure wouldn't have lasted this long.
I love Billick and didn't want to see him go, but the decision has been made and now it's time to move on with what is and not what we wish it could be.
