Re: OT/Site going to the dogs!
Putting words in my mouth again, Poe? Where did I say to expend a 2nd on Woodson?
I was merely asking the question out loud about his apparent fall-off out of the top rated rookie passers.
My preference would be to see if we could get a good deal on a trade down from #8 to wind up with four picks in the first three rounds. (If Ryan were to fall to #8 and there were another team willing to trade good picks, then take the trade). If there are better quality DBs, OL, DEs, WRs etc. on the board in the 1st and 2nd rounds, I would like to see us go that way and pick up a QB in the 3rd or later round. If Henne, Flacco, or Brohm were to fall that far, or possibly Woodson, or a sleeper. Of course, if there is not the quality available in the other positions in the 2nd round, then pick up a QB then.
I had been hoping that Flacco's small school resume would drop him into the 3rd round, but that doesn't appear likely.
As to your Kyle Boller comments - one more time: I had been in favor of hiring a vet QB from the day that Boller was drafted. Unfortunately, our FO ultimately did just that, too late, with the wrong vet, at the wrong salary, and giving up a draft pick. Right now, Boller is the best of the meager lot of Ravens QBs.In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T
came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

Re: OT/Site going to the dogs!
No. I just don't think that Ryan is worth a #8, and that he's not much better, if better at all, than the other guys projected for the late 1st or 2nd round. And I think that the Ravens have far too many other needs for low round draft picks .... at least 4 or 5 positions need upgrading via the draft.
Putting the eggs in the basket of a #8 choice at QB may be akin to seeing the Houston Texans with David Carr. No question that we should draft a QB. But we need other positions filled as badly or worse. I expect to see several years of rebuilding. In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T
came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

Re: OT/Site going to the dogs!
Sorry, I misread your statement about Woodson.
As for putting words in your mouth "again", please.
Your constant defending of Boller's play is well documented without me having to make anything up.
I just don't get this phobia to drafting a QB in the 1st round. QB is a glaring need (along with others) but clearly at the top of the list. If we're gonna be rebuilding for a few years as you say in another post, then why not start with a QB to build around? Not some later round project (Flacco is considered a project btw).
It's almost as if people are gun shy due to the Boller debacle. And it was a complete debacle from the top down.
That was 2003 when we drafted him. Time to move on and get ourselves a legit QB to compete in a division with teams that have pro bowlers at the position.
Again, if Ryan is there, the Ravens will pull the trigger. As far as trading down. Sure, I'd love to see it if Ryan wasn't there. But who's gonna trade up and for what player?
I'd say almost every team would like to trade down in every draft. The problem is, most don't want to trade up.

Re: OT/Site going to the dogs!
As you admit to never having watched the show, or even commercials for the show, then it would seem your credibility in arguing against it is severely diminished. You are just coming across as an unreasonably prejudiced blowhard. Which is normally Greg's job.
Brooke White probably should be classified as 'cute' rather than 'hot'. Wrong adjective there. To say she's ugly is bull - as Fanatic said, she would not be the recipient of a boot out of bed.
I would not watch the show in a million years if my wife didn't subject me to it, but as Greg said it is a talent contest which, like it or not, has a large market and features decent performers. In general, I hate reality TV.
So in conclusion, we should take Matt Ryan at 8 if he's still there.

What I DO mind is how ever-present it seems to be -- I hate turning on some sports radio program and the first thing they talk about is American Idol (at length). I don't mind it being on since I don't have to watch it, but do I have to be ambushed by it in venues in which I don't want or expect to hear about it? I guess the answer to that question is yes.

Re: OT/Site going to the dogs!
For Idol and shows of that ilk it's certainly been the case in a few of the UK series that the person who "needs" to win it to launch their career usually wins it, so the most musically talented one will often make the final but ultimately lose out. Happened in the most recent series of the X-Factor (another of Cowell's creations) where a talented opera style singer lost out to a 20 something scottish kid who was shit but popular with the teenage girls.
On Woodson, he's fallen off the face of the draft boards because his technique isn't good enough. He's got some horrible inconsistencies in his accuracy and whilst he looks after the ball he misses on so many throws that he really should be making.

In the beginning, god created...., I mean I was forced to watch a few minutes a few years ago, so that is what I'm basing my opinion on... but as someone else here said, you cannot escape it! Every where people discuss it as if it were pertinent, had some hidden redeeming quality! It is THE most irrelevant topic in, at least my world, and I resent having it thrust upon me!... By the way, why are youse guys hijacking the thread and trying to discuss football!

Even though I detest reality (and "talent" shows), there is one good thing to say about American Idol: Carrie Underwood.

In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T
came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

Hey Rochardrik,
Do what I do...watch something else. Or read. Or surf the web.

Re: OT/Site going to the dogs!
House. Very good television right there! Lost seems to have found itself and gotten very good again. The Office is still really funny even if the plot lines are getting out of control. The writers do need to stop having Michael try to one-up his crazy factor every episode. The one where he drove into the lake was out there too far. Scrubs was also good though it's not really on anymore (maybe back for one more on ABC per rumor).I mean really, What on network tv right now is at all intelligent? The only shows I can think of are Lost and The Office (which may have jumped the shark already, we will see).
Other than that, Network TV sucks and I don't watch it.
I'm completely basing that off one pic I saw of her on the AI site, which must be a horrible pic cause she seriously looks like ass. As in, I would kick her out of bed unless I had a pass-out-drunk amount of alcohol prior. I don't watch the show, maybe I should check her out to judge a bit better.Brooke White probably should be classified as 'cute' rather than 'hot'. Wrong adjective there. To say she's ugly is bull - as Fanatic said, she would not be the recipient of a boot out of bed.
And oh by the way, if you want hot chicks on reality shows, you need to check out Julianne Hough on Dancing with the Stars. My wife watches the show. I play poker. Till Julianne is on. When she's on, I'm pretty much 100% focused on the screen. That girl is SMOKIN' hot!!!

Re: OT/Site going to the dogs!
That's the first I've heard of Rolle moving to safety. What about Landry? I think a DE helps the secondary more than the secondary helps the DEs. I'd like to see more of Suggs lined up with his hand in the dirt than dropping into coverage. The Giants showed in the Super Bowl what a good pass rush can do for a defense.

Re: OT/Site going to the dogs!
The recent shows on HBO have been fantastic and some of the best TV I've ever seen. Unfortunately they're all no longer in production, but we do still have DVD to see The Wire, Rome, and Deadwood. The John Adams miniseries currently airing has also been very good.I mean really, What on network tv right now is at all intelligent? The only shows I can think of are Lost and The Office (which may have jumped the shark already, we will see).
And looks like we'll be getting a new "Band of Brothers", this one focusing on the War in the Pacific, sometime in 2009. So yes, there is still good TV out there - you just need premium cable to see it.

Re: OT/Site going to the dogs!
The problem here is if you watched the initial auditions as opposed to the part where they actually compete against each other. I can read or do something else while the contest is on, the auditions shows which are the first part of each season are unbearable. Amy doesn't watch those so I don't get subjected even secondarily.I mean I was forced to watch a few minutes a few years ago, so that is what I'm basing my opinion on...

Re: OT/Site going to the dogs!
Get a life dude! You have the nerve to criticize Tony for watching a show that consistantly gets a 40 rating, which means 40% of the US is watching, and you rip apart his site. A site that I have noticed that you live and die by. What kind of existence do you live where you sit in front of the computer day in and day out stating your idiotic opinions with the rest of these freaks seeking approval?
You're a joke
