Bears RB Cedric Benson arrested again

Bears RB Cedric Benson has once again been arrested for a DUI, this time on land. Makes you wonder how Chicago feels about keeping him and trading Thomas Jones now. At least he didn't get pepper sprayed in the face this time.

Chicago Bears and former University of Texas running back Cedric Benson was arrested and charged with drunken driving in downtown Austin, police said.

Austin police spokeswoman Veneza Aguinaga said Benson was stopped overnight at 5th and Colorado Streets for a traffic violation and refused a breathalyzer and blood test.

Benson was arrested and taken to the Travis County Jail. He was released around 9 a.m. this morning on bond, jail officials said.

The arrest comes a month after Benson was arrested on Lake Travis on charges of boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest, both class B misdemeanors. Those cases are still pending.

Benson was a first-round Bears draft pick in 2005 and started 11 games last season for the team. At the University of Texas, he was a four-year starter and ranks as the school’s second all-time rusher with 5,540 yards

    Nice job Benson.

This will go a long way in your other case where you argued you weren't drinking and that the police were overzealous and at fault.

Refusing the breath test in Texas is no joke. It's prosecuted the same way.

    Way to go, Cedric.

It's like that in most states, and it's usually still better to refuse the test cause of the way it shows up on your record. That way you're not convicted of drunk driving, specifically...

I was actually willing to give him the benefit of doubt on that Texas case, since the cops there were so reluctant to release tapes of what happened, but this is pretty much a nail in the coffin for him. He'll be out of a job very soon, and most Bears fans will probably celebrate, because he wasn't really very good to begin with.

But seriously, when will these guys ever learn? I understand the "I'm bulletproof" attitude these entitled athletes have, but after you've been busted once or twice, don't you think they should get a clue?
