Republican Tax-Cut-And-Spend Economics do not work
Here's more proof that the Republican tax-cut-and-spend policies (i.e. trickle-down economics) do not work. When Dubya took office, the DJIA was between 10,500 - 11,000. Today, it started at 10,610. Now if I was a Republican, I wouldn't be too happy about my return on investment!
Here's another fact: When Dubya took office, our national debt was $5.7 Trillion - yes that's trillion. Today, it's $9.5 Trillion. It would take over $30K for each man, woman and child to pay this off. We pay over $400 billion a year just to pay interest on this debt.

Re: Republican Tax-Cut-And-Spend Economics do not work
It must be true since we all know that while a president is in office he is the only thing that can possibly effect such major economic factors and they change instantly to every move he makes... And the fact that we have a distincltly Democratic Legislature has no bearing, at all on the economy.
If that'ss a conservative spin, I don't knwo what to tell you. this is very similar to G7's post about the recessions. if you guy sreally believe that the worlds economy moves in such quick instances, based solely on the president I don't know what to tell you.

Re: Republican Tax-Cut-And-Spend Economics do not work
jonboy - It's only been the last 2 years that we've had a Democratic Congress. The prior 6, we've had a Republican Congress.
There's no doubt that 9/11 had an impact on our economy. However that was 7 years ago - you can no longer blame our economic woes on 9/11. Now, if you want to blame the Iraqi war, go ahead. The Iraq war (combined with Dubya's tax cuts) have severely drained our economy - nobody to blame there but Dubya.
Tax-cut-and-spend policies help the economy short-term, but hurts it long term. We are now feeling some of those long-term affects from our past sins.Ravens Nest #1, Harford County

I agree with jonboy...Let's pass the buck for today's horrible economic situation onto Jimmy Cawta. There is no way the likes of a Sen. Phil Gramm (R) could have caused such havoc in less than 7 years. It must of been something Jimmy did back in the 70's. I don't see any peanut farmers asking to be bailed out.
