Drew Olson
St. Pierre absolutley sucked tonight. He was responsible for 14 of the Vikings 30 points. It got so bad that Billick pulled him in the 4th quarter of a preseason game with less than 1 minute left.
However,
Olson looked pretty sharp. Lots of zip on the ball, hit his Wr's. I believe Moore dropped one that was pretty catchable. I hope he gets some good PT next Thursday, I'd like to see what he can do when he isnt trying to score a TD with 15 seconds left.
If he doesnt make this team, is it possible that we would allocate him to NFL Europe?"This year, our attitude when we’re on the field is we’re attacking, we want to put points on the board and then let our defense pin their ears back and have at it."

Re: Drew Olson
I'd like to see him get some more snaps as well. He definitely fired the ball down the field fairly well tonight. Giving him more than a minute of playing time would be nice to see.

Re: Drew Olson
True that!!! I saw him in practice at WMC... he was sharp then. I'm not the coach ,but to my naked eye he seemed to be a hell of a prospect.

Re: Drew Olson
Hope we can see more of him against the Redskins. I think this kid has a future hope we keep him.

Re: Drew Olson
I have this gut feeling Olson is going to disappear.Whether by design,or by some other teams interest.
Its to early to say what the Ravens have in the kid.But hey,we are due some luck with keeping a QB if they are worth keeping around. I still have my eye on Derek Anderson development during this preseason.Put the smile back on your face. This is a 60 minute ball game.

Re: Drew Olson
Unless this kid is completely lame when we aren't seeing him, I would cut St. Pierre and keep him. St. Pierre hasn't shown enough to stay on this team and hold off a guy with potential.

Re: Drew Olson
Here's something no one has thought about. Why don't we cut St. Pierre AND place Olson on the Practice Squad? We are totally f'ed if BSP is starting games for us and Olson as a UDFA will probably be able to hang out on the PS without getting snatched. The odds of McNair missing a game are pretty good, but the odds of Steve and Kyle being hurt at the same time are pretty low. Also having only 2 QBs frees up a roster spot.
Its something to think about at least.

Re: Drew Olson
Have you been watching our oline? I'd not be shocked if our third stringer ends up playing this year.the odds of Steve and Kyle being hurt at the same time are pretty lowOderint dum metuant

Re: Drew Olson
Supposed McNair goes down and has to miss a game or two? Are we supposed to go with just Boller or call up Olsen then? You would then have to cut somebody AND hope Olsen hasn't been signed off the practice squad to another team's 53, which can happen at any minute. Much too risky.

Re: Drew Olson
We've gone with 2 QBs before and picked up a third once the starter got injured.
I'm just of the belief that we are totally f'ed if both Steve and Kyle go down at the same time. It won't matter who our QB is then. St. Pierre won't be any better than Olson or some vet from off the street. So why waste a roster spot on someone that will never contribute in a positive way?

Re: Drew Olson
Its not like KB hasnt missed significant time for injury last year.
If Steve goes down and KB starts there is more than a slight chance of him getting hurt too.
Im thinkin we will see more Olson on Thursday."This year, our attitude when we’re on the field is we’re attacking, we want to put points on the board and then let our defense pin their ears back and have at it."

Re: Drew Olson
And if McNair goes down and at the same time Phil Savage sports a boner for Olsen all of the sudden we are scrambling to sign a QB for the number 2 spot that week. We have rarely gone with 2 QBs and without a Hymes on the roster I don't see it. I could see it if we had a converted QB on the roster.

Re: Drew Olson
I'm just saying that we aren't going to win a game with BSP at QB, so it really doesn't matter if we scramble to sign someone off the street or elevate Olson to the active roster. Whoever is in there is just going to be a handoff machine anyway.

Re: Drew Olson
I really haven't seen much of him, but If he has the potential that people have been talking about, and he looks good, they need to do something, because as has been pointed out, Savage will sign him 2 seconds after he lands on the PS.

Re: Drew Olson
You all are missing the point here. The chances of a 3rd QB seeing a snap during the regular season are against the odds. (our O-line notwithstanding)
St. Pierre is about as good as he is gonna get. It screams "we shoulda" kept D. Anderson. But! Olsen has wayyy more upside than anyone present (as far as 3rd stringers), and stands to learn a great deal from 2 QBs with a lot to give.
A lot of you would have killed for Kyle to be in the potential position that Olsen could be in. Think about it. Are we gonna draft our future next year, or is he already here?
I say he is here, but then again, we have an offensive geni..........I'll just stop there.SS

Re: Drew Olson
There's a reason why we're not seeing Drew Olson. He just isn't that good. Some people see what Tom Brady did and assume any late round or undrafted rookie we draft/sign will turn out the same. The chances of that happening are very slim.

Re: Drew Olson
I watched Drew akk his games at UCC,not to mention Derek Anderson, DO is not an NFL quarterback amd I wished we hadn't gotten DA stolen. He's better tha St Pierre right now.

Re: Drew Olson
Accoring to Aaron Wilson, Drew Olson hasn't looked that great in practice, and even he thinks St. Pierre is a better option. I'll take his word for it. The days I was at training camp, Olson didn't really do anything to stand out. Besides. one or two nice throws in the last minute or two of a preseason game doesn't mean crap to me.
Also, St. Pierre didn't play well in Minnesota, but that goes for all of them. I thought St. Pierre looked serviceable in the first two preseason games to where if something happened, he could come in and manage the game if he had too. However, 3rd string QBs rarely see the field anyways. I would still take St. Pierre over Drew Olson.
