Just brought on the next "Ginormous Depression".
Unless something is accomplished in the next few days, i expect 2 decads of really tough times around here.
Max out yrou credit cards, empty your bank accounts... Tough times are coming. This bailout wasn't an option, it IS a necessity.
Re: Nancy Pelosi
Pelosi delivered 60% of the democrats vote for the bailout - the republicans killed this bill. If the republicans can't handle a speech by pelosi and in reaction vote against the bill, then they have serious issues.

I am also getting so tired of people saying how tired they are of "bailing out" corporations with tax payer money. Do they realize that with another couple days like today on the market that they will be wishing they were just paying a couple hundred dollars in taxes for a bailout?
This notion that you can just let these huge financial angencies just go belly up so you save your precious couple hundred bucks in taxes. It is insane. And for the house republicans to vote no to cater to these naive constituents and also to get back at Pelosi for putting the blame right where it needs to be is just one more example of how the republican party is really in complete chaos. With no imminent threat of terrorist attacks, the repubs have nothing to offer. No wonder they are getting crushed on the polls.
The republicans really fucked a lot of people with investments today.
Re: Nancy Pelosi
Yes MAX OUT, Mortgage credit was the first to fall, consumer credit won't be far behind. Might as well get access to the money while it is still available. IT will be much liek the Home Equity Loans that are currently freezing people's accounts from further business. Credit card companies have already started doing the same.
G7, I agre something needs to be done, but Pelosi coming out and compeltely blaming it all on Bush when she had AT LEAST as much of the blame was complete suicide for the bill. Partison Politics need to be completely overlooked on this issue as there is blood on everyone's hands and cash in everyones pockets. All of the politicians knew this would happen, and all fo them made plenty of money on it, now it's time they vote to fix it. I sincerely hope this bill gets passed, SOON, with better language as far as oversight and the like.
BTW G7.... I fOBY is president, and JAN, FEB and MARCH are the first three months of negative growth in our economy, thus creating a recession, is it fair to blame it on him? Or would it be fair to say that those events were set in motion before he was even campaigning for the job?
Re: Nancy Pelosi
How very republican of you. Funny the world didn't come to an end today. in fact the market gained back most of what it lost. Interesting too how Wachovia was saved by Citi without any bail out money. Why doesn't Main Street trust Wall Street because they shouldn't, when the very people who brought you the crisis are offering you the solution you better check the water out to see how many gators are under the surface. There is an old saying "When people with money meet people with experience the folks with experience get the money and the folks with the money get the experience."
