Kelly Gregg Out For Year?
Sorry if I missed this, but I just heard on the radio that Kelly Gregg is having season-ending surgery today. Does anyone know anything about this?

Re: Kelly Gregg Out For Year?
We will certainly miss Kelly. That being said I could see this coming as the season went on and we kept seeing him out for a game.

Re: Kelly Gregg Out For Year?
Oof. Bannan has been stout, but not as mobile and even if he were, this hurts the rotation.
Get well soon, Buddy Lee.Festivus
His definitions and arguments were so clear in his own mind that he was unable to understand how any reasonable person could honestly differ with him.

Re: Kelly Gregg Out For Year?
Huge blow but not that surprising. Sports Steve said it best -- when they kept placing him on IR for the week, you kinda knew something more serious was wrong.
I believe the Dr performing the surgery today is the same guy that worked on Tiger. Here is The Sun article as well:

JB has stepped up and is doing great! The real issue will be in the event of another injury. We will miss Gregg getting the pressure and pushing in the pocket however it is not the end of our D line.

Re: Kelly Gregg Out For Year?
With Dwan Edwards already down, and now Kelly, the rotation is thin. Come on J'Vonne Parker.

Re: Kelly Gregg Out For Year?
Buddy Lee may be my favorite player. You have to love his hustle and how he made the most of a short fat body. Get well soon.

Re: Kelly Gregg Out For Year?
Was Gregg on the active roster or on the PUP? If it's the former I would hope we'll get another body in for the D-line rotation to take at least a handful of snaps a game. Though they've been doing a nice job of limiting Bannan's snaps through the first few weeks to keep him fresh and he's responded with some very good performances, hopefully he continues that through the season.
Get well soon Buddy Lee, we're a better defence with you aboard, here's to a full rehab.

Re: Kelly Gregg Out For Year?
What Rav said ....
Buddy Lee is far from fat. I was standing at Gate C one game last season and he wore this God-awful outfit to the game one day, which included a cut off shirt. The dude is in great shape.WARNING: This post may contain material offensive to those who lack wit, humor, common sense and/or supporting factual or anecdotal evidence. Re: Kelly Gregg Out For Year?
OK we can go with pear shaped, round mound, low to the ground.
He is not out of shape, but he is fat. I have seen him up close. I do not think I could block him, but he does not look like a football player up close and in person. I was out at camp and met Nagta, Pryce and Gregg, and Nagta and Pryce look like NFL players, Buddy Lee looked like a short fat guy, but on the feild I think he is the best DT in the NFL. At least top 5. 100 tackles a year from a NT is ridiculous.

Re: Kelly Gregg Out For Year?
Microfracture surgery.... oooo. Expect Kelly to be out all of next year too, if he can ever make it back. This ain't ACL reconstruction which now has about an almost 100% success rate for patients to come back to pro sports. Microfracture surgery is what ACL surgery was 15-20 yrs ago, about 1/3 make it back to a close level of play. The majority are only a shadow of themselves.

Re: Kelly Gregg Out For Year?
Huh? If this is the same surgery it doesn't seem he will be out all of 2009.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microfracture_surgery
The surgery is quick (taking around 30 minutes), is minimally invasive, and has significantly shorter recovery times than an arthroplasty (knee replacement). Combined with a high rate of success, these factors have caused orthopedic surgeons to use the procedure with increasing frequency.M&T Bank Stadium - Section 513

Re: Kelly Gregg Out For Year?
Buddly Lee is a FOOTBALL PLAYER, plain and simple. I like guys who get it done, and Buddy Lee definitely does that.
