Men Against Boys
Yea, I know, there are those of you out there who will be offended by my saying this, but it was Men Against Boys out there today. I love my team as much as the other guy; but, hey, this Giants team just MANHANDLED us! They embarassed us! What can one say, except we better get ready for the remainder of this schedule, or it's lights out until next year!

Re: Men Against Boys
I agree that the Giants were certainly the better team out there today, but I wouldn't say the Ravens got embarrassed like the way they played against the Colts.

Re: Men Against Boys
We got our ass handed to us today. By in my opinion the best team in football... in their stadium. Yep, this one stings a fair bit. But I think we'll rebound from this one and give the Eagles hell next week.

Re: Men Against Boys
This was a game where Ray Lewis was not at his best and I think it showed. Where was Suggs? Bart Scott?
In a game where I thought Manning would throw at will, the giants ran at will. They seemed able to neutralize our linebackers.

Re: Men Against Boys
Let's take solace in this...
This was arguably the toughest game left on our schedule...if we can come out of that 30-10 and likely with a hungry Defense looking to avenge their poor play, I think we could suprise some teams the rest of this year.
Remember, we expected this team to go 4-12, 5-11 at best...they're 6-4, and our offense is now an equal to our Defense. Let's take that offense to a team with a weaker defense, or a worse offense...I think we can win at least 3 of the next 6..

Re: Men Against Boys
My concern is the injuries are really starting to rack up and the lack of a real Bye is becoming more obvious now. Niggly injuries are starting to play out and it's not gonna get getter.

Agree, the Ravens were certainly outplayed today, but I'm not ready to jump off a bridge. Sometimes you learn more from defeat. Hopefully the Ravens learned a little about themselves by the way they were humbledand can take that knowledge into the rest of the year.
That said, I was scratching my head for how they continued to run the ball being down by 3 touchdowns.
Go Chargers!.

Re: Men Against Boys
Everybody needs to take a deep breath. This is the defending Super Bowl champions we just played. We had a patch work O-Line and Secondary and a rookie QB.
At the beginning of the season we were projected to win 4-6 games by most experts. I know expectations have raised based on teams play over the season, but we are still realistically expected to get beat by this team.
We should do well against an Eagles team that is having trouble with the Bengals. No matter how the team tries to sell it, being on the road this long has to suck and after winning 4 straight the boys have done fine.
Lets get ready to welcome them home to beat the Eagles.

Re: Men Against Boys
It was seven different kinds of ugly, but not the end of the world. Ravens got out-played by a great team. That game is now behind the Ravens, and they can focus on playing at home against the Eagles.

Re: Men Against Boys
Guys. We're still 6-4. If Pittsburgh loses today we're still tied with them for the division lead.
This without half our starting team on the field, a rookie QB, rookie HC, rookie RB.
We didn't NEED this game at this point to get into the playoffs. Now we just have to take care of business.

Re: Men Against Boys
My only objection to your post is this.
We MUST play good teams better. We cant keep laying steaming piles when we play teams like Indy, Giants, etc.
And someone earlier was calling out specific players on defense, wondering where they were. Uh, how about where was the entire defense today?WARNING: This post may contain material offensive to those who lack wit, humor, common sense and/or supporting factual or anecdotal evidence. Re: Men Against Boys
Flacco does not play like a rookie, imo - this guy is the real deal, and I was pleasantly surprised with the way he performed today! Rice is a winner, and plays like one! And Harbs has been coaching for a long time now. Let's cut with the excuses and man up! Yea, this team was beaten by probably the best team in the NFL! But for them to play the way they did, is unprofessional. You bring it every week; if not, sit home at the end of the season and enjoy the playoffs from the comfort of your sofa!
P.S kudos to Mason for playing today and coming up with some big time catches, and to the O-line for protecting Flacco the way they did - they're definitely my heroes in Ravenous's thread this week."Grab those pusillanimous sons-a-bitches by the nose and kick 'em in the balls.." Re: Men Against Boys
I gotta wait for Filmstudy's analysis, but IMHO we played against what could be the best o-line in the NFL. Not surprising that our LBs looked a little more "average" than what we are used to seeing.
Chalking this one up to 16 players on IR. The FO has done an exceptional job of filling in the gaps, but this was a game where we needed Gregg and Edwards in the rotation. (Yanda, Cmac we could go on...)
Think the giants haven't really been given their due, the lousy start last year is part of it, and we limped into a clash with them. All in all, we didn't do terrible. Mason and his injured shoulder holds on to that high pass he had to stretch up for and we are no worse than 23-10 final, maybe even better.
I sure hate losing but not getting real down about this one. We get handled like that by the eagles or cowboys and I will be upset.

Re: Men Against Boys
Hind site being 20-20 that 3 & 20 conversion on the first drive really hurt.
It's hard to take anything good away from this game other than -
The team did battle back in the third quarter and looked to have momentum on their side before the ill timed interception & return.
I've never liked the Meadowlands turf and it always worries me when the ravens play there, hopefully the team didn't sustain any injuries that might carry over to next week, we'll see tommorrow I guess.
Given that all three units gave up big plays with the defense being gashed numerous times, I guess we're lucky that the Giants didn't put up more than a 30 spot.
Looking forward in the schedule the Ravens have only 2 of their last 6 games on the road so they can look forward to some home cooking and the home crowd being lathered up for the playoff push.
I believe if the Ravens can go 2-2 against the NFCE the team should find itself with a playoff spot.

Re: Men Against Boys
In hindsight, the only 2 teams we played lousy against was the Giants and the Colts. We should have won against Tennessee (thank you officials) and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Like it or not, we have been beaten up with injuries to our "O" line and our secondary. Now Mason is hurt and he is our number 1 receiver.
What I don't understand, and I wish someone would tell me is this: "What in the hell does Harbaugh do during a game?" I never, ever, see him mutter a single word, or yell at a player or anything. He never throws a flag when he is suppose to and when the camera is on him, he stands there like a statute. He looks clueless and confused. I much prefer an animated coach like Coughlin.

Re: Men Against Boys
Face it, our team did not show up in the first half. The Defense had no heart or desire to play for the entire first 30 minutes. We started to come back, but then Mason crushed those hopes.
It's after these games when I wish I could write a letter to the team letting them know how much they let me down with their lackluster effort.- Section 133 for eternity!
