It's Flacco Day at Bristol
Apparently Mr. Flacco has quite the day scheduled at ESPN tommorrow.
ESPN Schedule
I'm sure he'll bore the hell out of the rest of the country with his laid back attitude and responses, but hey, he got some good stuff to talk about today.

Re: It's Flacco Day at Bristol
This cracks me up because of Flacco's demeanor.
I listen to a bunch of those shows and I bet each interview will a repeat of the previous ones.
Since this is a bit off topic, I figure I'll post this link. Has nothing to do with Flacco but I didn't wanna clog up the board with an off topic thread. This is hilarious.

I'll be sure to catch that Mike and Mike and the 1st Take interview, although I detest Skip Bayless unless he's preaching the revelation that T.O. is a team cancer to Stephen A. Smith.

First Stop
Ravens' Flacco begins grand tour of ESPN
Joe Flacco Day at ESPN began this morning with a studio stop at the Mike & Mike radio/TV show in one of the last segments.
There was nothing too startling other than Flaco blurting out that all the meetings in pro football were "kind of a pain in the" posterior -- but he didn't say posterior. That drew guffaws from Greenberg and Golic.
Other than that, it was pretty much every Flacco interview you've ever heard or read about. He was polite and political and, well, cool.
We also found out that he doesn't dance and feels awkward when people encourage him to loosen up in social situations and howl a little. He admitted that when he was asked early in the season about the speed of the game that he "downplayed that big time." Meaning that it was a little more dizzying than he was letting on. But, of course, that's Flacco.
He implied that he was a little intimidated by Ray Lewis at first and that when the Ravens linebacker smiled at him he wasn't sure if that was a "good thing or a bad thing."
And finally on the subject of the recently released Terrell Owens and whether the second-year QB thought the Ravens should sign him, he gave a typical Flacco response saying it wasn't up to him, that it was a front office decision and he was happy with the receivers Baltimore has right now.
"Bottom line, it's not (up) to me, I'm going to throw to anybody," he said.
Come back later for updates. Next stop for Flacco this morning, is ESPN's First Take TV show. He's also going to be on the Colin Cowherd radio show and even do an Internet chat.

Re: It's Flacco Day at Bristol
God i hope this kid lives up to what everyone thinks he already is. i really need to see him get rid of that ball and make decisions faster this year.
I live vicariously through myself.

Re: It's Flacco Day at Bristol
I've said that throughout the season that he has areas that need improvement, amongst which are decision making and accuracy on the long ball. That internal clock in his head should be quicker than last season and he'll get the majority of reps in training camp to jell with his receiving corps, unlike last season, when seemingly the hand of God injured Boller and struck Smith with the plague.

Re: It's Flacco Day at Bristol
i was going to mention accuracy on the long ball, but i know how touchy a subject a QB in Baltimore can be so i did not want to shoot my wad in my first post about Flacco on this board. lol
hopefully a full offseason and training camp will do a lot for him in those areas. even if it is just the decision making, i will be happy as hell. there is a difference between poise and holding a ball too long due to poor decision making.I live vicariously through myself.

Re: It's Flacco Day at Bristol
Exactly. He spent his first training camp and preseason with the 3rd team. I think having a full camp with the 1st stringers will do wonders for his timing, and speed of release. We all know he has a cannon, now if he can only perfect the timing on those fly and post routes to Clayton, D. Will and Co., we'll all be in for an exciting season.

Re: It's Flacco Day at Bristol
Right. The kid took a few unneccesary sacks last season because of that hitch in his game. He strikes me as a hard worker though, so I expect marked improvement in 2009.
Just the flashes of ability he's shown during the season gets me amped to see what he can do with a guy like Hakeem Nicks added to our roster and a (don't laugh) healthy D. Will.
Let's just put it this way, brother: If we can produce a Top 10-15 offense next year to compliment our defense, I'm saving up airfare to Baltimore for the playoffs and beyond.

Re: It's Flacco Day at Bristol
sorry, i meant to say something about this yesterday, but i disagree. he spent training camp and preseason as the only QB on our squad. by game 2 he played the entire game himself. he then had the entire season to play at full speed. this guy is touted as a hard worker and fast learner. he had a ton of time and was still making some of the same mistakes by the end of the year that he was in the beginning.
just my 2 cents and i will give him all the rope in the world. i look forward to him having this offseason and through training camp. he has great coaching and i look forward to seeing him start things up. i just hope we get to see some of those compliments come to fruition. too many times last year he held the ball forever or forced it to Mason and Mason alone.I live vicariously through myself.

Re: It's Flacco Day at Bristol
He was a rookie playing against some of the best defenses in the league. He definitely improved as the season wore on. He played in 19 games last year and 17 of them straight. I am sure that he was mentally and physically exhausted at the end of last season. What QB does not have things to improve on after their rookie season?

The only thing I hope he works on is how to beat the Steelers next year.

Re: It's Flacco Day at Bristol
on that same token, he practiced against 1 of the best defenses in the league daily.
as for improving every week: 16 TDs 12 Ints and 11 Fumbles (only 2 lost luckily) those are the stats, with a bit of a fall off as the year went on where numbers are concerned.
i will attribute the length of the season to that fall off without a problem, but he is not the god people make him out to be. that is not a knock on him, it is more of a knock on a fanbase.
i wish the guy well and liked some of the things i saw. he was a rookie and yes, rookies always have something to work on, hell everyone has something to work on. but he is far from polished and taking as long as he does to read the field and make decisions is something i would have thought he could do by the end of the year. maybe not perfect every time, but doing it a lot of the time. if his 1st read is not there, he was lost most of the time.I live vicariously through myself.

Re: It's Flacco Day at Bristol
i want to start by saying that i'm pretty damn happy with flacco overall, and am excited about what can happen with him and some added weapons in our offense. with that said, there is one thing that worried me about him this season. i can't remember a game where he lead us to a win in a really key situation (other than possibly the playoff game in TN with that pass to heap). he had chances in all three of those pittsburgh games to put them away and seal it up, but it never happened. i never saw the drives like you see 5 of every year from big jen, and that worries me a bit...
