A couple thoughts
i'm watching nfl live right now, and they have us as the best offseason in the afc. they said the giants had a better offseason, but had us finishing second in the league. not too bad...
also, matt jones was released by the jags today. with his stock down, he would probably be a cheap pickup for a guy that can really ball when he lays off the blow. let me know what you think (although i already know no one else will want him).

Re: A couple thoughts
vet min plus incentives, like stay off the blow. The guy can play, but may be crack head. I let a crack head work on my car before though because the price was right.

Re: A couple thoughts
Some of you guys just love spewing misinformation.
Jones is not a crack head. Crack is not the same as blow. He was caught with blow ONCE last year, and his latest arrest was a probation violation for having alcohol in his system.
If you're going to talk bad on the guy, at least get it right.

Re: A
I saw the show as well and we are getting some respect now!!! I do not think Matt Jones will ever play here because Harbaugh is so big on character first and solid citizens.

Re: A couple thoughts
Signing a guy who has had problems with cocaine to play in BALTIMORE is like signing Art Schlichter to play football for a pro team in Las Vegas.
Not the best idea.

Re: A couple thoughts
Why not, its not like he smoked crack. He also has played well at times and does not seem to be in too much trouble with the law. i am all for second chances, but if you are dumb enough to get caught cutting lines in your car, and you are not homeless or broke, I am going to call you a crack head, even if you prefer sniffing your coke powder, not shaken and stirred and smoked.

Re: A couple thoughts
Maybe if he hits a line before he goes onto the field he maybe the burner we need...
Just a joke, but i will leave it up to Oz right player at the right price. Maybe we can get him for a couple of 8 balls. Would that count against the cap?

Re: A couple thoughts
Matt Jones is not that good a football player, and he comes with a ton of baggage. Why would you want him? Because you could get him cheap? We need a reciever but you don't take fliers on problem guys just because you can get them cheap.

Re: A couple thoughts
Jones has not been a repeat moron like Pac Man. He also does not call himself pacman and go around making it rain.
I do not think he is that good of a player, because although he is tall and fast, does not get in and out of his breaks quick enough to run all the routes. He could give us a much better version of Clarence Moore though. He may only be able to run slants and fades, but he is a big target, has good hands and can take a hit. I can see him getting 8 TDs or so but most likey only about 30 grabs.
If he gets suspended of locked up, his roster spot is open, and the Ravens would only be on the hook for his bonus, which should not be too high.
I do not get all caught up in the personality stuff, that is why I was willing to get T.O. if the price is right. If he is not in jail, or on suspension, he can help us win games, and should be signed as long as the price is right and the risk is low. I think the ravens can handle the PR and the media just fine, and the way Harbs has handled the players behind closed doors worked last year with much more volitile personalties and situations like benching Willis and Cmac.

Re: A couple thoughts
I'd risk it too, if not for the recent alcohol arrest.
But drinking and coke problems do not mix in an area with as many bad things to get into as Baltimore.
If this dude is making it snow down in a town like J-Ville, what makes you think he wouldn't do the same in a place where there are far more vices at his fingertips?
I just think we need to provide Joe with a solid, reliable corps of receivers while he's developing and problem children like Jones don't necessarily fit that mode.
I believe he deserves another chance, just not in BMORE.
UNLEASH THE BEASTS!!!!

Re: A couple thoughts
Since I guess I've failed to make it clear to you thusfar, let me try one last time:
I don't want us to risk bringing in Matt Jones because of the trouble he may bring with him.
Sniffing blow off of hookers would be one of those troubling things I'd prefer not be a part of the Ravens organization. At least during the regular season.
