    Live Camp Updates

CBS Sportsline has been covering the Ravens training camp practices in a twitter-esque way. There's some cool stuff going on at practice this morning:

    Love hearing this ....

"Ravens FB Le'Ron McClain just made a leaping catch over FS Haruki Nakamura and DB Frank Walker for a 20-yard gain."

And Flacco throws more pics!?!?!?!? Not good.

I don't mind him throwing picks against our defense. It's the best d he'll see all year. Joe is gonna be fine this year. Although with the qb history of our team I certainly don't blame anyone for hyperventilating every time he doesn't look like a superstar.

nice, this is good stuff for constant updates.

i don't know if it's the hokie in me, but i notice justin harper making plays constantly this year. every day there are several TD catches that he makes noted by observers and i can't help but be impressed. he looked big when i was at camp and he could have a shot at the roster if he keeps it up.

Bmore Hokie, yea it gets me excited too, b/c everyone is talking about Harper being a pleasant surprise this training camp. You know as well as I do that Beamer/Stinespring's offensive scheme is not at all conducive to showcasing WRs' talents. That is why I was really excited that the Ravens drafted him b/c he looked like he had some nice skills in college the rare times he got the ball. Yes, I was disappointed that he didnt make the 53 last year, but true be told, he was probably very raw b/c the Hokies passing scheme and routes did not prepare him for a pro style offense. Looking good in practice is one thing, but lets see him show it during the preseason games....

He was a lot more impressive than I expected in person. He really looks the part in practice and most of the time vs a 1st string CB.

He had 2 NFl Wrs in front of him on a team that could not throw. Not suprising he was slow to develop.
    Go Terps.

Jeremiah, the Hokies could have thrown the ball to Harper, Eddie Royal, and Josh Morgan if they did not run an archaic 1976 Jerry Claiborne style offense. I guess my jaded view of the Hokies O is seeping out. Sorry fellow Hokies fans that think Beamer is above criticism.

hasn't really been too much of an issue during our two-year reign as acc champs..

The ACC has got to get with the times and find a way to put up some offense.

UNC was explosive lst year but they had 3 NFL WRs and a2nd round TE.

I think the ACC defenses are by far the deepest and the deadliest other than at USC, but the ACC has more defensive talent every year than the PAC 10, Big 10 and Big 12 combined.

At least in my Harm City Homers eye view, but the top defenders in the NFL seem to mostly come from the ACC so it has to be hard to even recruit what you need to build a good offense week in and out.

exactly, if mike leach was running the offense instead of stiney then eddie would have been a surefire first rounder and harper/morgan would have gone much earlier. with a defense like tech has, there is no reason to play that type of offense. it's just not beamer's style. if he didn't have glennon and then a pure scrambling TT throwing to him, we would have heard much more about this guy but it worked out anyway. when we got him in the 7th, i knew it would be a steal and i hope he proves me right.

You forgot the TDs he threw today. I am not concerned with INTs in practice, because you work on plays and see what works and what doesn't.
    It's a new season! It's a new day!

"Ravens OT Oneil Cousins is out of the training room. He is limping, but is not wearing any bandages."

doesn't seem too bad, but how bad would we be screwed if we "made the right pick" to get pettigrew.

I don't tend to criticize Beamer too much...Stinespring on the other hand...
