McGahee Trade?
What was up with McGahee not playing much at all today. I know Ray Rice had a great game but there were times when McGahee would have been helpful...ie Redzone during that first drive as well as spelling Ray Rice in the 2nd half a bit.
Were the Ravens holding McGahee back for a possible trade prior to the trade deadline? He won't be a Raven next year and his value should be high right now and we could get maybe a much needed receiver or d-back.
I just don't think we will go far with the current production at these positions (d-back, wide-out). We are getting tooled at these psoitions. While it is nice to have two feature backs, it is obvious we need help at these two spots. Weighing the value of keeping 2 feature backs along with Mcclain or adding either a solid receiver or even a solid nickel back, I think this team improves by trading McGahee.

Re: McGahee Trade?
Not with his ridiculous salary. Also I think it has been proved that rice is not an every down back unless we pass 75% of the time. He had 14 carries today...
This was just another case of Cam out thinking himself which he has done 2 weeks in a row now.- Section 133 for eternity!

Re: McGahee Trade?
McGahee is not being traded, that is insane. It was the second week in a row of FAILED offensive game plans. No creativity, no "attack" mode. We had 1 big play, that was created by Rice, who turned a garbage dump off pass he should have been tackled for a 2 yard gain into an amazing play. This was the most frustrating game to watch I can remember.

He's in Billick's dog house with Randy Hymes. In Harbs we trust!

Re: McGahee Trade?
McGahee is a better every down back than Rice, though he doesnt have the athleticism, sure hands, and cutting ability. I would trade him in a heartbeat for a decent CB or WR, though. We need to win a Superbowl before Ed Reed and Ray Lewis retire.

Re: McGahee Trade?
McGahee is under contract for a few more seasons I believe.
It may not be a bad move, you can use a Rice/McClain back combo and possibly sign a full back.
He is hot right now and his value is higher that it was at the begining of the season. I would want more of a DB than a WR since we have D. Williams but for some reason Harbs is not playing him.

Re: McGahee Trade?
D.Williams is not playing because he offers NOTHING.
There is only absolute black and absolute white, all else are shades of gray.

D Will is in Cam's doghouse, his attitude has been poor.

Re: McGahee Trade?
All you have to do is look at McGahee's contract numbers and you quickly discover he is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Re: McGahee Trade?
Explain further...I don't know his contract numbers. That side of the game as never interested me so I am admittedly stupid there. I would have said the Braylon Edwards trade never would have occurred as well the day before it went down and it did.
I think if there is a gain for both teams AND McGahee wants a chance to actually play football this year (which it appears he does) that the three parties involved transcend whatever the contact numbers are and get something done.
This is admittedly a longshot as well as a risky proposition but this team needs a receiver...and needs one badly.

Re: McGahee Trade?
The way I understand it, if we were to cut him this year, we'd take a sizeable cap hit in terms of money owed to him versus money saved. Same can be applied to trading him, as we'd have to pay off the guaranteed money owed to him now.
Also, I doubt another team would want to add his salary right now. They'd be more agreeable if he'd re-do his deal in the trade so they get some savings up front.
Trades for players are rare mid-season in the NFL...The Browns had been trying to move Braylon for weeks and Rex finally bit. No one has been trying to trade for McGahee that we've heard of..

Re: McGahee Trade?
I don't think Bisciotti is worrying about the guaranteed money but i do agree that there would have to be a lot of "willingness" on all three parties for it to happen but dang, this team is in trouble if we are lining up Chris Carr on passing situations and a double teamed Mason on 3rd and long.

Re: McGahee Trade?
They absolutely cannot unload him until the off season. His cap hit for 2009 would be be too great to unload him this year. His signing bonus gets accelerated to the full the amount the moment you trade or release him. The Ravens can unload him in the off season because there will be no salary cap in 2010 unless the agreement gets done. If it does not get done the Ravens need to look at unloading Gregg, Pryce and a few other guys in 2010.
