    TMQ is an idiot

Here's what he says in his latest column abou the Ravens:

What about Baltimore? After going a long stretch without allowing a 100-yard rusher, the team has now allowed one in three of its past four outings. The Nevermores' offensive line is a mess -- it allowed four sacks against Cincinnati, while clearing few rushing lanes -- and the offensive line is always the best window into a team's psychology. Right now, rookie left tackle Michael Oher looks terrible. Oher has, at a tender age, already had a lifetime of complex emotional experiences, plus been the subject of a book that's been made into a big-studio movie that opens next week. When Oher was drafted, TMQ noted, "The true story of an impoverished African-American boy adopted by an affluent white family has obvious Hollywood appeal, but can any 22-year-old handle such media pressure?" Maybe Baltimore needs to take him out of the lineup for a while.

I only have a problem with the bold-type. Is Oher really playing that badly? Does TMQ know he plays RT for us?

Michael Oher has been outstanding as a rookie. Peter King picked Oher as his mid season all pro RT.

I think TMQ is a joke and don't know what's going on. What a joke!

To a cynic's eyes the story seems a little off. Rich white family adopts one particular poor black kid who just happens to be an amazing college football prospect who then goes on to attend white adoptive parents' alma mater. At least that's what it looks like on the surface, but I look forward to reading Lewis' book and learning more about it, although not sure about seeing the movie.

As for Oher's play, yeah TMQ is prone to this kind of stupid writing, but I find pieces of what he writes to be worth reading. Too bad he insists on writing a million word column every week. Generally, the longer a column the more likely it'll be peppered with bullshit like this.

He is all over this one. We ddn't run the ball against Cinci because we couldn't! It was difficult to watch us get physically dominated and there wasn't a damn thing we could do about it. Very depressing...

I am sick and tired of hearing about how we came out flat, or we need to start fast. Face it, they're better across the board this year. Plain and simple.

I have also never heard of TMQ. Would one of y'all who can identify him, please provide a reference? Thanks.

anyway: Three letters should be reserved only for dead Democratic Presidents FDR, JFK, and LBJ.
In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

I always enjoy Easterbrook's columns. While I don't always agree with him, his reasoning is usually well thought out and thought provoking. TMQ is not your typical sports column.

There is another theory which states that this - has - already - happened…

Just another example of a national columnist who doesn't know the whole story. I know these guys can't follow every team closely but in the age of the internet where fact checking so much easier it's embarrassing that you don't even know his real position and therefore your credibility suffers.

Oher overall has been fairly strong. He's had his share of typical rookie mistakes (false starts - unsportmanlike calls) and of course we know he's moved back and forth between left and right tackle.

But going so far as to say that the Ravens should take him out of the lineup is moronic.

I do agree with one of the above posts though. The Bengals proved to be the better team in both games and dominated the lines of play on both sides. That is tough to watch but maybe it also speaks to the fact that the Bengals are a good team this year.

Easterbrook has always been more about the entertainment and stats than any real insight into what's going on. Check out what he has to say about blitzing if you want an example. (I'm pretty certain he had the phrase "IT'S A BLITZ!!!" hot-keyed.) He goes out of his way practically every week (or at least he used to when I was still reading his stuff) to find practically evern blitz play that resulted in a long gainer/TD/critical first down conversion and tell the reader all about it. Don't bother telling him about the big plays created when blitzes work, or the big plays that happen for the offense when the D rushes four standard...the blitz is a ridiculous strategy!

He has no clue what he's talking about. Oher hasn't been a Pro Bowler. But he also has been FAR from "terrible."
