    AD Cut by the Pats

Once again proving the notion it's Ray's world and other LB's are simply living in it, the Pats let go of AD.

Thoughts on resigning for league min?

eh, with us getting Kindle, not sure he'd be worth the pickup really...

Suggs, JJ, Ray, Ellerbe, Gooden, Barnes, Kindle, Ayanbedejo

Don't see AD really being a big upgrade over any of these.

Re: AD Cut by the Pats

I was going to make a joke about resigning him when I read about them cutting him earlier.

He and Ray Lewis are still not on speaking terms. Would resigning him be worth the drama, even at league minimum?

We are deep at LB. Surely you guys (correction: "guy," specifically, Houston) are not serious.

Besides, I don't think Adalius Thomas can handle the limelight and all the chest thumping.

There, I had to say it.

I really hope not. As it is there are going to be a lot of talented young guys that we're going to cut that other teams scoop up.

I would rather see Barnes rushing the passer than this scrub. And I don't think there's much room for Barnes with all the talent we have on the outside.

about what? I don't have an opinion either way other than bored and needing something to chat over.

Re: AD Cut by the Pats

When he was younger, his speed is what set him apart for a man his size. That, coupled with his hunger to make a name and career for himself, gave us a fantastic player at a great price.

Without the speed and the desire, he's just another big athlete trying to play in the NFL, and I don't think there's anything particular about his game that makes him an ideal fit here, personality issues notwithstanding.

hahaha, we're so deep at LB, I forgot Jameel McClain!

yeah, AD was once a very valued Raven. But his time has passed.

Re: AD Cut by the Pats

Its a shame because AD was a good guy here in Baltimore. His big Patriot contract went to his head though and he appeared to lose his perspective and became a dick.

This is another one of those intangibles that could point to Ray being one of the, if not THE, best player of all time. Not only has he been great but he has elevated the play so much of those around him.

I am interested in seeing how Bart plays this year in N.Y. Some of the Ray Lewis sidekicks have gone on to have a pretty good first year away from him but have not been able to sustain the success. Now Bart does have Rex there which is probably also a big part of much of the success of the Ray Lewis sidekick phenomenon but I will go on the record early here that Bart Scott turns in a disappointing 2010 which would only further cement the Ray Lewis legacy as the best of all time. It seems to be the trend.

As far as bring AD back that would be a step backwards in the development of the younger, new look Ravens.

Re: AD Cut by the Pats

I would love to see Rex pick him up and then have to cut a young player with lots of potential to keep him on the roster.

One thing to note, TL's article about corner mentioned that with the uncapped year, it'll make teams happy because they can sign oodles of guys to compete in TC to make the team, thus guaranteeing they will get the best out of the 53. So a team might just bring on AD for essentially a tryout to see if he can beat another LB for a roster spot.

Wink Re: AD Cut by the Pats

I 'd love to see him back, mainly because he was a beast on our 2005 and 2006 teams. I thought he was the principal reason for our 13-3 record in 2006. However, I tend to get stuck in the past and want to overlook how quickly fast players get slow in the NFL.

I'd take him only if we had a 60 man roster. Otherwise: best of luck, Adalius, in finding a job above vet minimum.
In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

AD is nowhere near the player he was during his 2006 freak season. But you bet the Fat Ass in New York will sign him.

I was AD's marketing agent while he was with the Ravens. He was a great guy when he first came here, but his last year here, he changed into another person. You guys are right about what you said about him, he got his money and went elsewhere. BTW, the last time I talked with him, he was going to call me back about whether he wanted to do a radio show in Boston, that was three years ago, still waiting for the call.

Wouldn't be so sure after they picked up Jason Taylor.

Shame Thomas didn't work out in New England, he was always one of my favourite players and I wish/hope he had something left in the tank to come back and contribute for us, but he seems to be running on empty. Which is a real shame.
