Johnny a little advice on a possible sales pitch for you:

Hello my name is Johnny, I sell the Kirby Electrolux vaccum cleaner. Our Vaccums really suck. Can I come in to clean your living room?

    What do you think?

    Re: The Driftwood

If I liked golf I would be jealous. Back when I was in the Air Force, fresh out of basic training too, I was still at Lackland AFB. I was there because they wanted to make me a LE (law enforcement) and the next class wasn't set to start for a few weeks (and I still had to qualify on the M-16). Anyone like me in that situation is sent to what they call Casual. I got to laze around all day watching MTV, eating pizza and drinking beer.

Well, some four-star General from War Planning in the Pentagon decided that anyone in Casual had to work the '84 Texas Open Golf Tournament. Now I wasn't a big fan of Cops and even less of a fan of golf. First day they give me a sign and had me walk behind the golfer as he played. End of the day he thanks me for doing a fine job and tosses me the ball. Turns out he was a MAJOR player at the time but I had no clue and didn't much care. Second day is much the same. Third day the Press and TV crews show up and guess what? The Majors and Colonels show up and tell the rest of us to just have fun for the day. Hmmm, The ONLY thing I thought would be cool was to be on TV and these jerks take it away from me.

So.... Pissed Off Me the next Monday went to qualify M-16 so I could do a job I didn't want. Didn't do it.. next day... score lower... last day, score even lower. They send me to CPBO [Consolidated Base Personnel Office] and this guy pulls up my records and plugs away for awhile. He then says over his shoulder, "So, You still want to be a Computer Operator?" I say, "Sure!"

And that is how I got the training so I could have a 25 year (so far) career.

    Good Morning Everyone!

TLa - Good Story and I guess the moral is that is that the military, in a way you did not quite understand at the time, ultimately gave you your career skills, as they did myself and so many other very fortunate Americans who served this great country.

    Have a great day everyone!

    GO RAVENS!!

    Re: The Driftwood

My biggest mistake there was I was 18 months Early Enlistment and all I got was Open General. You would have thought I would have had a guaranteed job with that long of a wait.

BTW: I called Elimi-Trolls and got rid of our infestation... Ta-Da!!
