Interview with Eric DeCosta on The Coach's Buzz
He shares his thoughts on:
- The impact of lost OTA's on Rookies
- Why the Ravens drafted Tyrod Taylor
- What the coaches are doing to stay busy
- How they will approach free agency when it opens up
- Why they are excited about Sergio Kindle and how he'll be used
- Terrence Cody and what he's shown them to get Ozzie jazzed
- Paul Kruger...will he see the field more?
- What difference Chuck Pagano will make
- And of course we had to ask, "Will Nnamdi Asomugha be a Raven?"
- The impact of lost OTA's on Rookies

Re: Interview with Eric DeCosta on The Coach's Buzz
I always like hearing DeCosta interviews. He is suprisingly candid without giving away too much, but it is like he never learned "coach speak" and actually answers questions.

Re: Interview with Eric DeCosta on The Coach's Buzz
"They won't panic".
His answer about Taylor was interesting. I wonder if they feel the same way about Pryor.
I would not rule out your chances of getting the GM job either TL just becaue ED said it is as likely as the chances of Asomugha signing with the Ravens.
I do not think he could really come out and say, yes we are interested in Asomugha but the price may be prohibitive. I have heard him in the past say Asomugha is the prototype CB in the NFL. Also Harbs on with Brett Hollander on WBAL last night expessed interest in a certian unnamed CB, but then sort of covered it up by saying we are interested in any player that can make us better. The best players will play, those who are playing the best are the best, blah, blah coachity smackety.
DeCosta is much more forthcoming with the info, but he is still not going to say anything he is not allowed to, or simply should not for tactical purposes.
Great interview.

Re: Interview with Eric DeCosta on The Coach's Buzz
Got a question, you all know I know sports and follow a bunch of things but I have absolutely no idea who this Coach Buzz is.
I've listened to him from time to time and not quickly switched channels like I have with some others, and I gather that he is/was a boys sport, maybe local HS, and having done Salvo auto commercials he has to be locally known, but not by me, I got no clue. Re: Interview with Eric DeCosta on The Coach's Buzz
Coach Buzz is the man. He was an assistant/ advisor at Gilman when I was there, and found me a pair of 16 cleats when I could not and was out there balling in my Air Jordans. He coaches all kinds of other sports and is a great sponsor and promotor of HS and youth sports all around the metro, but especcialy in Bellllll Air Hon.

Sounds like Decosta and the coaches are pretty confident in Kindle making a comeback. That would be HUGE.

Re: Interview with Eric DeCosta on The Coach's Buzz
Harbaugh on Kindle:
The doctors had cleared him to play football, and that was back in March,” Harbaugh explained. “There is some paperwork that he has to sign off on to make that final. So I assume, since he said that, he signed off on that paperwork and he’ll be ready to go, but I don’t know for a fact because I haven’t talked to Sergio.I like what Kindle could bring on passing downs to the Ravens D. He's a perfect compliment to JJ. My cautious optimism is becoming less and less cautious...“I was under the impression the he would be in training camp, he would be cleared, he would sign off on that, he would practice,” Harbaugh said Thursday on “Sportsline” with Brett Hollander.
The Ravens have consistently expressed optimism this offseason that Kindle would return to the field, but they never revealed their source of hope. Now that we know Kindle was cleared almost three months ago, that better explains the team’s positive outlook.

Re: Interview with Eric DeCosta on The Coach's Buzz
I agree, but you don't think there's a handful of jobs out there that he would have to consider if offered? And don't you think he's among the handful of top GM candidates out there?
I would say Savage's disastrous failure of a hiring in Cleveland and DeCosta's allegiance to the Ravens organization could be the only two things working in our favor.

Re: Interview with Eric DeCosta on The Coach's Buzz
Don't forget Kokonis. Once Savage left DeCosta and Kokonis moved up. DeCosta saw what happened when Kokonis left to work for his 'friend' Eric Mangini. Watching Kokonis get thrown under the bus and then sued so the Browns could get out of paying him is not something that DeCosta is going to forget.
The Ravens recently extended DeCosta and it was reportedly a good deal. How many times does a the #2 front office guys deal even get reported? DeCosta is being treated by the Ravens and the media as the Ravens GM in waiting and in my opinion that's exactly what he is.
