Foxworth's Status. Uh-oh
Domonique Foxworth - DB - Ravens
Ravens CB Domonique Foxworth conceded that his surgically repaired right knee "doesn't feel great" and indicated that he's experiencing a loss of speed and explosiveness in practice.
"It’s frustrating. I don’t know. I’m not very happy about it, but I’ll just keep working, I guess," said Foxworth. "It hurts, and I don’t feel as quick or as fast as I once was." If rookie Jimmy Smith comes along quickly, Foxworth's roster spot will hang in the balance. The Ravens could go forward with Smith and Lardarius Webb as starters, shedding Foxworth's $4.4 million salary.
I had a feeling that all those labor talks would hinder him. God bless him for bringing back football for us but theres no way with all that was going on he had time to rehab that with including he couldn't even see the ravens trainers. Damnit

He was a dumb signing to begin with.
I knew we should have gotten Leigh Bodden who is ready to kick ass after his missed season, and who the Ravens could have had.

Re: Foxworth's Status. Uh-oh
I kept trying to tell people that Foxworth is not going to start. He hasn't played football in over a year. We saw how that particular injury affected Lardarius Webb, who was playing like our best CB during his rookie season. We saw how it affected Fabian Washington, who was already struggling before he tore his ACL. Webb is almost two years removed from his and played last year, working out the kinks.
People took what they saw from Webb last year and assumed that was to be expected for his career, without looking at the circumstances surrounding why he played inconsistently. Meanwhile, they dubbed Foxworth the starter over Webb, even though Foxworth is going through the same thing Webb and Washington went through last year.

If this is serious, that would make Cary Williams the fourth CB. I do not want to see a man injured, but good for Williams. I think he deserves to move up the depth chart.

Fox's cap hit next year is more than offset by his base salary. We'd still be in the positive.
That being said, I really want him to be healthy this year to contribute. Depth at CB is so critical in the NFL. How quickly we forget primetime debacles against Indy, Pitt, etc. IF he's not healthy though, not much to say. You can't pay a guy this much to miss two consecutive seasons.

Webb tore his in November or December though. Fabio tore his late in the season too I think.
Foxworth has had an entire year to rehab his. I realize he needs an NFL field to test it on, but he could have certainly been simulating this off season. No, he was playing NFL businessman instead.

I agree with everybody with cutting em in a way but now im swaying back to IDK what we're gonna do about depth at CB. We have so many uncertainties on this team now we dont need too much more crap to go wrong. TE,2nd RB,2nd QB, RT,WR. Thats a lot to deal with and its starting to get scary. I remember thinking all was well last year working on a job and hearing breaking news Foxy tore his ACL. like that Our CB strength went down a notch or two for sure.

Sounds like he spent too much time in a suit this offseason rather than in the training room. Hope ozzie has a back up plan if fox isn't ready to go, we need the depth.

Re: Foxworth's Status. Uh-oh
Chris Carr can start in a pinch and it now makes sense why the team brought him back, as well as why he decided to return. Cary Williams should move up the depth chart. He had a great preseason last year, is physical in the press, tackles with authority, is lengthy and has good speed. Williams only saw limited snaps with the defense last year, but was one of the teams best special teams players. All that is lacking is the experience with the defense, which I think he should get more of.

Isn't cary williams like 29 years old or so. He too old to be talking about his potential. If fox isn't good to go we need to sign somebody. Imo

Webb and Carr would be my Pittsburgh starters. They need Webb on Wallace anyway.

Re: Foxworth's Status. Uh-oh
I should have known that something was up. It felt odd to hear the confidence oozing from Smith and Webb, while hearing a different tone from Foxworth. Smith was talking about how he is going to come in and prove that he can start, saying that is the reason he was brought in and that's what he came here for. Webb was saying that he and Smith are going to make a great tandem, from the moment Smith was drafted. He later said that it was no indictment of him, that the two would play alongside each other and if the team had any doubt, than he would go out and show them who Webb really is.
Foxworth, on the other hand, was just talking about how he is not sure what the teams plans are and how he would expect them to want him to start and be a mentor to Smith, but it just wasn't oozing with the same confidence.
In essence, Smith and Webb were both talking about how they were going to go out and prove that they deserved to be the starters, while Foxworth was talking about how he expected the team to want him to start, and wasn't even sure about that."When questioned, the Elders explained that they were in search of magical powers.
