Ravens $6.6 million under the cap?

    According to Profootballtalk.

It's impossible to keep up with this stuff and you have to wonder what is taken into account when these sites put these figures up.

I would trust PFT because of their connections around the league. This proabably doesn't take into account the Pollard deal. When they sign Ngata to a long term deal, it'll probably be in the neighborhood of 10-12 million of cap space remainig. They still need a-

    backup QB- $1-2 mill
    Vet WR- $3-4 mill
    backup RB- $1-2 mill
    vet OL (center/guard)- $1-2 mill
    vet OL (RT)- $1-2 mill

good work ozzie....get Ngata done and we will have more than enough for any moves they feel they need to make.

Floyd is most likely coming here at 3 million, unless he takes less to go back to SD, or unless SD restructures somebody and they go above the Ravens offer. I would like to see them add a backup RB. Any thoughts?

Not a bad idea. Although at this point, they may have to wait for training camp cuts before they make any deals.

    I think so.

I suspect there is a veteran C out there somewhere who the FO is aware of & just waiting for the axe to fall.

love seeing the Steelers $10 million over. Restructuring can probably get them part of the way there but I think they're going to have to make at least one cut that's really surprising.

That includes the $3M borrowed from future Caps, so it's possible.

Without having many details on the Yanda, Carr and Leach contracts (Pollard wouldn't yet be included), it's hard to say if that is accurate or not. There's been no reporting on the base salaries of those guys.

My guess is the $6.6M under is fairly close. I had them at $8.5M under after signing the rookies, but without Yanda, Carr and Leach. That didn't include the extra $3M, so that would be $11.5M. The difference of roughly $5M could be about right for the first year cap numbers of those 3.

Still seems a little too much space to me, but close enough (plus, they may have gotten a carry over from last year that would have increased their cap).

If that includes Yanda, Carr and Leach, that's not too bad. Get Ngata signed and that will probably free up another $5 million or so.

This is excellent news if so, i thought we'd have less space then that. With all the good football players still available as well as the cuts that will happen today from teams over the cap.

can you get a carry over from the previous year when there was no cap last year?

Per Twitter at approx 10:30 am:

    AdamSchefter
As of this morning, there are five teams over the salary cap: OAK $15.25 mil; PITT $8.5m; DET $7.8m; DALLAS $6.7m: HOUSTON $3.25m.

Apparently so, because I saw a tweet from John Clayton that said that Denver had an additional $6M in cap space because of some carryover costs. He didn't explain any further and didn't mention any other teams either (unfortunately).

per a couple of Steeler reports, the $8.5m figure, doesn't include the 5 restructures completed for Ben, Harrison, Kemo, Heath, and Keisel (I think). Not sure where they fall after those are accounted for.

Also heard the Steelers are in talks with Woodley, but as of yesterday they aren't close on numbers yet. After what Harris got from the Jets, I'm wondering what Woodley is wanting...

Re: Ravens $6.6 million under the cap?

Well, as of today, PFT has us at around $3.5 million under.

Can't imagine Pollard took up $3 million off the cap this year.

Re: Ravens $6.6 million under the cap?

Grain of salt with all this. No one seems to have any clue where anyone is under the cap. I don't know that I've seen any site that has info consistent with any other site when it comes to how far under/over the cap any team is.

The problem is the fluidity of this free agency period.

The second you post an "updated" cap list, someone signs with Team X and the list is immediately obsolete.

I sure hope you are right about the cap space.
Getting a decent RT and depth for the OL is imperative for me.
Not so worried about the skill positions, but if they don't address the Oline i think the season may be a wash.
