Details on this one will tell the story...Police were called to respond to "person with suspicious condition", they found his body along a trail right next to his home.

Just awful. A hero for the Orioles as a player, one of the all-time greats.

Wow, that really sucks. How old was he? Couldn't have been much older than 60, right?

Wikipedia say he would be 60 in December.

    This is sad news indeed.

    Wow.

Stunning. Some of my fondest O's memories revolve around when he was playing.

    Way too young.

Wow, I'm in complete shock too. I have such great memories of watching the O's in the late 70's and 80's, and he was such a big part of those teams. What a great picture. RIP Flanny...can't believe you're gone.

Just terrible news. Flanny was one of my favorite players. I feel like I lost a friend. RIP Mike, you will be missed.

Truly a SHOCK!! A real class individual, intelligent, and one of the best Lefthanders in Orioles history! R.I.P. Mike Flanagan, along with other Oriole greats! I sure hope it wasn't a suicide?!

So sad to hear this. Flanny was one of my all time favorite Orioles. He epitomized the class and excellence of the old Oriole teams. His wit and intelligence were always top notch. Sorry to hear he's gone. Just so sorry to hear it.

Re: OT: Mike Flanagan Passes Away

At 10:10 PM, Fox news reported that "A" body was found on Flanagans property that he owned. And that Flanagan could not be reached for comment.

    http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/mar...,4675762.story

They did not report that it was Mike Flanagan.
This report is weird at best. Hope that it was not him. Maybe I am somehow getting this mixed up. Then found the above link article. Why would it say a body was found and not confirm it was Flanagan ?

As of 10:20 PM, the body has not been identified.

Unless Fox News has completly botched this.

Re: OT: Mike Flanagan Passes Away

He was just on TV the other day. Shocking and too young if true. A great CyYoung Award
    Winner.

Palmer tells a funny story about him in his book. When Flanny was a rookie he was in a bad
rut and losing and was worried to death Earl was going to cut him. Jim said no way, you're too
good. He said, I dunno, could you say something to Earl for me. Jim said sure.

Palmer said now Earl never had an open door policy to his office. Nobody just
walked in on Earl unless you owned the team but in Fenway Park the manager's office was next
    to the toilet.

So while taking a leak I stuck my head in Earl's door and said hey Earl. He
said what? Flanny's off to a bad start and he's worried you're going to cut him
So he asked me to say something to you.

Earl said you know I'm not going to cut him. You know and i know he's gonna be a great pitcher.
Jim said yea, we know that but Flanny doesn't know it.

Earl said ok, I'll say something to him. Jim flushed the toilet and left. Earl
talked to Flanny and he eventually won the Cy Young.

Palmer said Flanny can thank the urinal for that.

Actually I was relaying the report which I believe is credible...unfortunately. Would love for this all to be proven wrong but I don't think so.

It would be a great gesture on the part of the Ravens to ask for a moment of silence to remember Flanny tomorrow night and wear No. 46 stickers on their helmets if they could pull it together in time.
