Not surprised at all. When you are told over and over again that you are great and then get your ass whipped 2 weeks straight, you have to blame somebody.

LOL funny.
That game was horribly officiated. But it was horribly officiated on both sides. They're not particularly wrong about most of their specific call/non-call complaints. They're just ignoring the fact that there were an equal number of terrible calls/non-calls that went their way.

Yeah, off the top of my head I can think of the obvious PI on Dickson and Revis as well as THREE missed penalties for delay of game. Luckily one came on a 3rd down play on which we ended up better off.

The missed roughing the punter was fairly egregious. I don't know WTF Pollard was thinking there

Funny. I'm sure I didn't hear Collinsworth say, "WTF"? Did I miss that?

Honestly, in a game of horrible officiating, I think the bad calls were tilting in our favor on Sunday. Not that it was a nail biter or anything or that the bad call tilt significantly effected the outcome; but the missed PIs against the us were more ticky-tack compared to that missed roughing the punter. Also, I can understand their perspective on the Ngata hit on Sanchez - not that I don't think the refs made the right non-call (apparently from a overhead angle it was obvious that the hit was clean), but from what we all watched in the replays it looked like leading with the crown of the helmet.
"A lot" is a two word expression denoting a great deal or greatly, as in "I like sunshine a lot." "Alot" is a lovable imaginary grammar monster. You can love a lot; you can love an alot; you can love alots a lot; but they are not the same thing.

Pollard's should not have been called. However... Reed's should have been. I think Reed himself was waiting for the call and was shocked that it wasn't.

LOL, by reading that thread, every play should have been a flag. Watched it on the DVR Monday night. Will have to watch it again to see if Collinsworth said WTF.
And, I don't beleive Ngata "speared" Sanchez. Look to me that Sanchez was backing up when Ngata lowered his shoulder for the hit. I thought you had to leave your feet in order for it to be a spear ? Oh well, as we all know, all the bitching and complaining about the refs will get you know where. Just a form of venting from a loss. I thought there were numerous blown calls on both sides. But the one thing the Ravens have learned is to not put the game in the refs hands and you won't have to worry about them deciding the game......Support Our Warriors.....

Mike Carey and his crew really did to a terrible job.

Reed was blocked into the punter also, as I recall it.
It was poorly officiated, though.

Re: Whiner Jets fans blaming the refs? Good stuff!
Reed and Pollard were both blocked into the punter. Collinsworth missed that, and won't ever be wrong.
I thought Ngata was borderline, therefore I was surprised it wasn't called. He lowered his head just before the hit, didn't really seem to be intentionally spearing (as they used to call it).
Overall it was really poorly officiated. Carey was in a fog the whole game.

Re: Whiner Jets fans blaming the refs? Good stuff!
I haven't seen a good angle on the Ngata play. From Sanchez' front you can't tell if Ngata turned his helmet to the side or not; it may have been a good non-call.
I didn't think Reed was blocked into the punter and I looked for it. Pollard was clearly blocked into the punter. The Burress play on the sideline was called correctly, I believe. I've seen it before where a player will shove or something to get away from a guy grabbing his facemask, and it's only the facemask that's called. That seems reasonable to me.
On the other hand, if I was a Jets fan, I'd probably be saying the same thing: the Jets played poorly, that's what cost them the game, but the officiating was horrible and one sided against the Jets.
It's normal fan behavior.
I suppose it was a poorly officiated game.Festivus

Re: Whiner Jets fans blaming the refs? Good stuff!
Just as Reed dives he gets pushed, which alters his trajectory so he lands under the punter. That's the play where the Jets get called for holding on the other side of the line.
Collinsworth was whining that the RTP should have offset the penalty, and even guessing that personal fouls sometimes take precedence.
The Jets did play poorly on offense, but they should have expected that. Even with perhaps the best center in football they weren't running it well, and that's how they've protected Sanchez the last two years: pounding the rock. With the O-line they had to play with, Ngata had a field day. So did Suggs and Kruger. When you can't run and can't pass, there aren't many options left on offense. Punting on first down may have been the wiser choice in hindsight.
Defensively and on special teams they had a pretty good day, but not enough to make up for the Ravens D.

Re: Whiner Jets fans blaming the refs? Good stuff!
There was definitely contact by the blocker on Reed, and I thought there was enough to it to make it a no-call for the ref. Particularly from the camera angle behind the punter, which showed roughly the same angle on the play the ref saw. Judging only by that angle, I'd have had to go with no-call there too.
Agree though, not a well called game. Glad we didn't get hosed out of a W.
