    Passing game?

Wow... Just noticed Ray Rice is the leading receiver on the team!!! Hopefully the passing game opens up when Evans comes back!

He was the leading receiver in 2009 and almost was last year too.

    Re: Passing game?

See the Ray Rice Career Goal thread...Ray Rice has publically said he wants to get 1000 rushing and 1000 receiving in a season.

This would be a worry if Rice wasn't moving the chains as a receiver and they were all desperation dump offs. It would also be a worry if we were giving up on the deep passing game. Neither of those are the case.

This is going to become reminiscent of Marshal Faulk having such a major role in the Rams passing offense, although I cannot remember if he was ever their leading receiver. I know that he caught a lot of passes.

If you look back on how quickly Evans and Flacco began connecting on the deeper passes and how close Joe and Torrey are to having a good rhythm of their own, you can conclude that the deep passing game is what Joe wants more than anything. So, I don't think that will be sacrificed.

Mike Martz actually uses a version of the same offense that we use. This season the Ravens really seem to be going more and more towards that version of this system.

He's only leading Q by 20 yds and Dickson and Smith are pretty close behind. I believe as the season progresses and Evans gets back in the lineup, they'll open it up more in certain games.

Ray Rice is a weapon in the passing game, as we all know.

..and for this they will keep him as a big weapon. Even now he is lining up on the outside as a receiver. This gets in the defenses head when they have to cover him as a receiver NOT coming out of the back field.

I love it when we send Rice out wide. I recall last year a perfect over the shoulder pass for a long TD to RR......he is just amazing!

    Re: Passing game?

Given the choice of trying to force a pass to a receiver or dumping it off to Rice wide open in space to move the chains and make a play with his feet, I am glad we have a QB smart enough to dump it off.

Flacco has a lot of new weapons on this offense. Timing is gonna take a little time to gel and the offense has shown signs that it is willing to go deep and more importantly can be successful doing so if its not respected. That's huge.

It will, but ain't that crazy!

Rice is valuable like that, but they really need to open up the passing game. I'm highly disappointed that Evans has been injured.

Good goal, I think only two players have ever done that, Roger Craig and Marshall Faulk, right?
