Ravens Defensive Ranks (After Week 5)

Here's the updated stats. Just thought it might be interesting to see where the defense ranks in the league in Defense-Per-Game Stats after the bye week.

Scoring Defense: 14.2 (1st)
Total Yards Per Game: 284.5 (3rd)
Rushing Yards Per Game: 72.5 (2nd)
Passing Yards Per Game 212.0 (Tied for 8th)
Opposing QB Rating: 61.6 (1st)
Rushing Yards Per Carry: 3.2 (Tied for 3rd)
Forced Turnovers (even with the bye week): 14 (Tie for 2nd, although many other teams have played 5 games)

Not bad considering all these injuries on defense: Jimmy Smith, Chris Carr, Dannell Ellerbe, Haruki Nakamura, Domonique Foxworth...

Will this defense remain at the top of the league as the season continues? What do you guys think? Do you guys see the pass defense significantly improving with the return of Jimmy Smith, Chris Carr, and Haruki Nakamura?

Carr is the big one. Smith has never played in the NFL so who knows what he can do. Teams can;t run on the Ravens so they are going to keep throwing. Having a healthy Carr out there can only help against that much passing.

Once Jimmy gets healthy, barring any other injuries, you can forget it. Carr would actually be the guy that QBs would pick on. Of course, they would try Jimmy a few times, but once they see how Jimmy covers in man, they would turn their attentions to Carr.

our corners look pretty sweet once Jimmy and Carr get back, Webb has played well and Williams hasnt killed us so im pretty excited

If smith rests this week and then is available against the jags, i wonder if we see him matched up against larry fitzgerald as a tune up for mike wallace and the steelers.

Man, if we're 8th best w/o Carr and Jimmy, we'll be top 5 maybe top 3 when they're back.

It only gets better and it won't matter what Joe and the offense does the way the
D scores but Joe will always be good for 1 of 2 TDs pr game with the D taking
care of the rest.

I had us for 11 wins but can see 12 or even 13 now.

He is a very underrated player, he is one of the better nickle corners in the league a solid nickle is quite valuable. I hope he gets back healthy he is sort of the forgotten man in the Defense.

Good point but with those guys back they won't be able to run or throw.
The pass rush is making the secondary what it is now. On the Kruger
fumble recovery almost the entire D was in the backfield at the same time.
The secondary got some time off on that play-lol.

Throw in Jimmy and Carr and it's gonna be tough to run and throw. Jimmy
plays his man really tight as we saw in the preseason.

I don't think he missed any time or not much at all in college due to injury. They
threw on him very very little. That's why he didn't have a lot of interceptions.
The ball seldom came his way and that will continue when he returns and
gets pro experience.

They'll be going to Carr's side most of the time, expecially Jen.
