Question on the Colts visiting Baltimore
Sorry, quick question
I've been googling but can't confirm it either way, very little info out there
I was told when the Indianapolis Colts come to Baltimore, the scoreboard will never, ever show Colts
It just shows Indy
Must be a point of principal for the good folks working at the stadium
Is this true?
Or have I been told a tall tale?
I always like learning these little bits of trivia so interested to know

True. Last time they came to town, the announcer introduced them as "the team from indianapolis". Lol

Re: Question on the Colts visiting Baltimore
Ive only been to one home game against the Colts, in '99. It definitely said Indy, not the Colts.
i also think it was the first time the Colts came back to Baltimore. Needless to say there was still plenty of animosity towards the Irsay Family and the Colts Franchise. Im not sure if its something they have done every time or just the first.

I take pictures at every home game, and here is your proof from 2009:

From 2006 (blurry but looks like it just says Ind.):

But in 2005....it shows Colts:

And in 2001 it shows Colts:

So from 2006 it has not showed Colts.Season ticket holder since 1996 Section 148 Tailgate Lot H

Irish--
I haven't been able to attend each Ravens-Indy franchise game in person, but my understanding is that you are correct.

Re: Question on the Colts visiting Baltimore
I remember hearing that either our scoreboard, announcer or both said the Colts were the "Indianapolis Professional Football Team." And that the Colts got back at us by listing us as the "Baltimore Professional Football Team" when we visited the RCA Dome.
They are aware of the lingering animosity and seem disturbed by it, which is lol-worthy.Super Bowl XLVII, As Seen By Ravens Fans (GIFs)

Why would they be disturbed. Amazing.

Re: Question on the Colts visiting Baltimore
I remember them and their fans being pretty p'd about it last time the scoreboard read Indy. I love it.

Re: Question on the Colts visiting Baltimore
you sure about that? i clearly remember the colts introduced as "Indianapolis professional football team". i've been to every ravens-colts game that they have played in baltimore.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indianapolis_ColtsTo this day, when the Indianapolis Colts play a game in Baltimore against the Ravens, the name Colts is not used. The Colts are introduced at the stadium as the Indianapolis professional football team and referred to as Indy on the scoreboards.

Looks like they're back to being the Indy Dolts again.

Re: Question on the Colts visiting Baltimore
I always refer to them as Indy. I hope the organization keeps doing that too.

If you click on my links above it shows the scoreboard has showed Colts up til 2006 when it started to show either Ind. or Indy.

Re: Question on the Colts visiting Baltimore
Given their record this year, will they be announced as "The Indianapolis semi-professional football team"?

For the older generation I can understand their pain and hate for that organization. I am too young to honestly say I am hurt over losing the Colts because I never had the chance to go through all the highs and lows when they were in Baltimore.
With that said and the way the Ravens are ran and the owner we now have I could careless what Indy does. I'm proud to be a fan of the Baltimore Ravens and proud to have them representing Baltimore in the NFL now.

Re: Question on the Colts visiting Baltimore
When Modell moved his franchise to Baltimore, he had enough respect for Cleveland to leave them their team name and history.
When Irsay moved his franchise to Indianapolis, he took everything: the records, the championships, everything.
They should have changed the name and left the records in Baltimore, because that is where they belong.
I like that they are not called by their name, and that practice should continues into eternity. After 5 years of early exits, the journey is finally complete.

Re: Question on the Colts visiting Baltimore
It won't be the first time we beat the Dolts.
That semi pro team was all about 1 man - Peyton Manning. Everyone said they would
go back to the Dolts as soon as he left and they have.
We had Unitas all those years but we got to SB 3 w/o him when he was injured.
Then in SB 5 he started but went down and Earl came in and won it.
This Manning team is nutten w/o him.
