Re: Draft Prospects
tbh i think hill, if he pans out to his potential, could do more for this franchise than any an other player at any other position except maybe Matt Kalil LT. Hill is the perfect build, has the perfect strength, and potential for our offensive system. He fits better in the Coryell than any other system. Hes the pefect WR for our system.
Imo hes too raw to take in the first, hes more a 2nd round WR. But after about the first 20 picks, there isnt really any standout guys there that you can say are better than anyone else.. like hightower could go to the steelers, or he could drop to us in the second.. its just a bit of mess from aorund late first to the late second.. so you couldnt argue with hill being taken in the first on potential alone!HUNT HUNT HUNT, dont stop hunting til you have him up on your wall!! - Ray Lewis to T Sizzle on our record setting sack day

Re: Draft Prospects
Ozzie tends to go with sure things with his first rounds, hence his BPA philosophy. Hill, while i dont think will be as much of a "project" as others, is probably still more so than others and probably wont be BPA in Ozzies eyes. Id love to have the kid though. I think hed solidify our WR corps for the next 6 years. In interviews he seems like a smart guy as well. If the work ethic is there i dont see a reason he cant pick up the route tree quickly. I dont believe Torrey knew the routes very well either and after 1/2 a season was one of our main players on offense.

Re: Draft Prospects
Just saw that Pro Football Weekly has the Ravens taking Michael Floyd. Man that'd be awesome if he were to drop that far, but I find that scenario highly unlikely.

Re: Draft Prospects
Can't see Floyd falling out of the top half of the draft. If he was there at 29 they would absolutely take him.

Re: Draft Prospects
I agree, its a bold move that can have a huge impact. There's more then enough imo as far as a base for him on and off the field to justify him as a first round pick. The problem is he may not get thru the 20's now, Lovie Smith was one of the only head coaches at his pro day so if they strike out in free agency maybe they take him at 19.
Another option i could see for the Ravens depending on how the board plays out would be trading down to the early 2nd and take Hightower, then use the picks obtained to trade up higher in the 2nd and take a WR like Jeffery or Randle. Grab an interior lineman like Phillip Blake in the 3rd.

Re: Draft Prospects
Both Kiper and Mcshay now have Hightower going to the Steelers with Poe already gone. Of course I'm not sure how often either has correctly pegged the Steelers 1st round pick in the past.
EDIT: Just for fun I checked Kiper's final mock for the Steelers last year and he did actually forecast Heyward. That's pretty impressive given how far down they were picking.Last edited by madmikey; 03-07-2012 at 02:53 PM.

Re: Draft Prospects
Walterfootball changed us to taking Adams, with Hightower going to the Squeelers and Konz going to GB.
Updated CBS has us taking Konz with GB taking Still instead.
Don't know how I feel about that. Walterfootball was correct the past 2 years on us.

Re: Draft Prospects
I really hope we don't draft Mike Adams, but drafting him could prompt us to cut McKinnie, which would save us quite a considerable amount of cap room, and will put us in good position to retain Grubbs. Like I said, I am predicting at least one surprise cut, not saying it will be Mckinnie, but it will be someone.

Re: Draft Prospects
I'm not blaimg Hill for his combine. I know he's going to be better in someone's team but what i think is what if it takes time to form in pro level. and if we do get Hill their are question marks. Like what if Cam doesnt utilize him or Flacco doesnt have chemistry with him etc. im just saying

Re: Draft Prospects
I could hardly care less what McShay predicts. There was a poster at SunSpot who gave a very good description of Mike Mayock and Mel Kiper.
The poster said that if you wanted the best idea of who will be the best pro player and in what system, go by what Mayock says. If you actually want the best idea of who a team will take, go by what Kiper says.
Now, back to Stephen Hill. The other good thing about Hill coming here is that, if Torrey continues to develop, he will likely draw the opposition's best CB and double coverage altogether. Last season, once Torrey proved himself to be a threat, he was often getting the opposition's best CB and you saw the inconsistency. Hill won't have that problem without teams paying for it through improved play from Torrey Smith."When questioned, the Elders explained that they were in search of magical powers. Re: Draft Prospects
Hill should actually be utilized well in Cam's system. That's why Boldin has been misused. He's been sending Boldin deep and playing Boldin on the outside, because they didn't have anyone else to go deep on that side and move Boldin to the slot. That is why you hardly saw Boldin in the slot until Evans was healthy.
Hill would be sent deep and that's actually his game."When questioned, the Elders explained that they were in search of magical powers. However, they're actually searching for the whereabouts of a certain ring. This ring is a legendary treasure that long ago was known to exist"

Does anyone have news about how Alabama's Pro Day went?
