Manning didn't miss a game for 13 years. At least he has a substantial history. Childs tore a tendon a couple of years ago and rarely seems right.

First time I've seen this pick made at 29 on a mock draft...

Can't say I'd be disappointed if things shook out this way.

If Cleveland gets Stephen Hill, they'll screw him up, I can feel it.

    Re: Draft Prospects

On the Ravens' website there is a video interview with Joe Hortiz talking about the safeties and they specifically talk about Mark Barron and Harrison Smith.

I don't know if the Ravens would have the opportunity to take Barron and I dont know that they would take him in round 1, but they could be targeting Harrison Smith in the 2nd round.

Personally, I'm leery of Notre Dame defensive players, but I could see the attraction towards him. He is a smart player and for his size he does have good coverage skills and speed (6'2" 215lbs), but I dont know if he's more of a SS rather than a FS. However, he played a lot of FS at Notre Dame. He's a decent tackler too.

    Thoughts?

I actually think he can play centerfield in the NFL, and i think if he's there as 61 there is a really good chance that he is the BPA. However with the lack of cap space it would be kind of unsettling to take a backup year 1 that high. Maybe if he can play on passing downs and Pollard play like a nickel LB role i'd feel better about it.

seems like every other mock has him going to Phili
World Domination 3 Points at a Time!

That mock also has the Steelers taking Konz, which is absurd to me. Yeah, I know Konz can/could play guard but still, I don't see the Steelers drafting him as a Guard there.

I agree, but at the same time I am encouraged by any mock draft that has both Kuechly and Hightower left when the Steelers pick, because then I feel better about the chances of us getting at least one of them...

It's interesting that the Steelers brought everybody to the Miami pro day. It was Tomlin, Colbert, Haley, their LB coach Keith Butler etc... Who were they there to see?

    Lamar Miller, RB
    Brandon Washington, OG/T
    Marcus Forston, DT
    Tommy Streeter, WR
    Olivier Vernon, DE

I guarantee those were the guys the Steelers were checking out because Miller is a borderline 1st/2nd round guy. Washington and Streeter are borderline 2nd/3rd rounders, and Forston/Vernon are potential 4th round picks.

I went back and watched the ND-USC game, ND-Maryland, and ND-Stanford the other day and I would have to say that I am warming up to the idea of Harrison Smith because he definitely is a solid prospect that could play both SS or FS. I like his size/speed combo. That's something Zibby never had.

If Philly made a move for Dan Connor, Curtis Lofton or Stephen Tulloch maybe I could see him dropping past them.

We're checking them out too but the Ravens didn't send any coaches or Ozzie. I know that if a Pro Day is local a team will send everyone but Miami isn't near Pittsburgh. It's like how the Jets GM went to the Clemson Pro Day. From what I've heard there is usually 1 specific prospect that really intrigues them.

    Re: Draft Prospects

im still of the thought that only ILB gets drafted in the first is Kuelchy, if he fell to us i think that would be great, but its doubtful with the teams ahead of us. something major would have to happen, a run on OL or WRs or something.

As far as Harrison Smith goes, Ozze took Zibi in the 3rd a little higher than projected so he obviously sees things in their program that translates. He was fast but definitely didnt have Smiths size at 5'11 195. I could see it, and BPA, seems to win out even if their isnt a glaring need, but we do have some other areas that id like to see addressed in this draft as well. Maybe since its deep in OL theyll go S earlier?

To me, it's probably either Lamar Miller or Brandon Washington for Pittsburgh.

For the Jets at Clemson, it has to be Andre Branch.

This is just plain dumb. This is how you squander opportunites. Don't know much about this prospect but I'm stunned that he would put himself in this position.

Orson Charles, top tight end NFL draft prospect, arrested for DUI
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 9, 2012, 7:38 AM EST
Getty ImagesOrson Charles, a Georgia tight end who is considered one of the top prospects at his position in the NFL draft, was arrested early this morning and charged with DUI.

Charles’s name is listed on the Athens-Clarke County Jail booking log, and the student newspaper at the University of Georgia confirms that the Orson Charles who was arrested is the same Orson Charles who was an All-SEC tight end at Georgia.

Charles left Georgia early to enter this year’s draft and is listed as the No. 1 tight end prospect by Mike Mayock.

For NFL teams, the question will now be this: If Charles can’t stay out of trouble during the couple of months before the draft, when he knows he’s being closely scrutinized by the NFL world, will he be able to stay out of trouble after he’s drafted?

Notre Dame will have some stud defensive players coming out the next few years. Manti Teo next year. They have a couple of Stud dlineman in the pipe as well. That freshman Aaron Lynch will be a first rounder after his junior year barring injury. There defense was very good last year. They really lacked a good QB. They also have a potential 1st/2nd round TE coming out next year.
