Marching Band Half-Time Show
Please, never, never, ever let anyone in the marching band sing again. That was some of the worst out of key vocals I've ever heard. Why would they unveil the new vocals on a national TV game as well? Holy moly.

Re: Marching Band Half-Time Show
Halftime shows are not seen on TV. Then again, I was at the game so I am not sure if it was seen.
The band imo needs to retire.

Re: Marching Band Half-Time Show
I love the story behind "The Band That Wouldn't Die" and all that. But I really think we should do away with them. Does any other NFL team have a band? It's very college football, and their seats could go to some more crazy Ravens fans. Fans actually can make an impact on the game, marching bands? Not so much.

Re: Marching Band Half-Time Show
I like the idea of marching bands. Not necessarily the execution here.
As cool as I think the old Colts band was at the time, and the way they held a torch for the team, I do think it's time to evolve or disappear.
I've long said it would be cool to have a mardi-gras-looking rag-tag, Stanford-Cardinal-like scatter band.
Or, just as cool would be a Florida A&M Rattlers-style band recruited from one of the many Baltimore clubs (ie, Emondson Village High Steppers, et al). That could be very cool.
Instead we have orthodontiacally impared band campers.

Re: Marching Band Half-Time Show
I was happy for M. Miller, he got to sing on a big stage. I was expecting a famous performer for yesterday's game. I thought Miller nailed it too.

Re: Marching Band Half-Time Show
^ This... Here are my suggestions...
Cut down the size and upgrade the talent. The band needs to be run more like the cheerleaders are - heavy duty competition for spots during auditions each year and lots more rehearsal time; develop an awesome drum line; hire professional choreographer to manage the flag/dance team; and everyone needs to rehearse, rehearse rehearse.
And not to be disrespectful, but it is necessary to change the overall leadership of the band if a substantial upgrade to quality is to be made. Mr. Ziemann has been there since 1962 and acted as President since 1984. He has done a great job, but after 27 years it is time to hand over the baton to someone with a new vision. Most of the other leaders have been around for 20+ years, with the most junior member of leadership at ~12 years.
Thank you for your service ladies and gentlemen. Please exit gracefully and allow others to take the band in a different direction.
Also agree it would be best to bring different college and high school bands in 4 times a year in the regular season and have the Marching Ravens perform 4 times a year.

Re: Marching Band Half-Time Show
I remember the band playing before the game when the Colts were here then other bands/acts would do the halftime show. Hell if you are not sitting on the Ravens side of the field you never hear them anyway. The Morgan State band is great. They put on one hell of a show.

Re: Marching Band Half-Time Show
The Ravens are going for a college atmosphere. That is why we also have male cheerleaders, only colleges do that.
The Redskins have a band, I know that.
As for "more crazy Ravens fans" those folks in the band make as much noise as anybody. They are fans as well you know. They don't just sit there when we are on defense.
I would prefer more variation in the halftime. Bring back the peewees that play during the preseason. Get rid of the QB halftime challenge. Bring in college bands to do the halftime.

Ugh, usually I don't even pay attention to the band at halftime, but last night was AWFUL!!!
Who's bright idea was it to have singers? They forever ruined Journey for me.

Keep the band!
I don't give a rats ass what other teams do.
There is something to be said about tradition. And one bad night of singing ain't changing it.WARNING: This post may contain material offensive to those who lack wit, humor, common sense and/or supporting factual or anecdotal evidence. Re: Marching Band Half-Time Show
Anyone who wants to get rid of the band clearly did not see Enrique Iglesias "perform" at the Cowboys game...

Re: Marching Band Half-Time Show
The band is horrible. They sound bad, the flag waving is totally unorganized, and they can't even march in good order. It is an embarrassment.

They were horrible. It's time for them to go, this ain't College. It's a tradition that people need to let go of now!
