Re: Marching Band Half-Time Show
i'm just glad no one booed during the band seeing that journey song. it was embarassing enough to hear those kids sing. between their voice and the sound system it was really bad.
other then that Steve put on a great show. the fireworks and music were great.

Re: Marching Band Half-Time Show
I remember the band playing before the game when the Colts were here then other bands/acts would do the halftime show. Hell if you are not sitting on the Ravens side of the field you never hear them anyway. The Morgan State band is great. They put on one hell of a show.

I love M Miller, he gives me chills every time I hear him sing, what an amazing voice. As far as the band goes, I love the tradition, but the execution is severely lacking. I would think they would be able to recruit more accomplished musicians from the area, maybe the entire band should have to try out against prospective members every year. That's what they do in college and one of the reasons they are so much better than our band. They should also practice more, they are very sloppy.

Re: Marching Band Half-Time Show
^ This... Here are my suggestions...
Cut down the size and upgrade the talent. The band needs to be run more like the cheerleaders are - heavy duty competition for spots during auditions each year and lots more rehearsal time; develop an awesome drum line; hire professional choreographer to manage the flag/dance team; and everyone needs to rehearse, rehearse rehearse.
And not to be disrespectful, but it is necessary to change the overall leadership of the band if a substantial upgrade to quality is to be made. Mr. Ziemann has been there since 1962 and acted as President since 1984. He has done a great job, but after 27 years it is time to hand over the baton to someone with a new vision. Most of the other leaders have been around for 20+ years, with the most junior member of leadership at ~12 years.
Thank you for your service ladies and gentlemen. Please exit gracefully and allow others to take the band in a different direction.
Also agree it would be best to bring different college and high school bands in 4 times a year in the regular season and have the Marching Ravens perform 4 times a year.

Re: Marching Band Half-Time Show
I thought that the Journey "tribute" was a brilliant way to horrify and demoralize the SF faithful present. Sort of like the musical equivalent of catapulting the heads of captives into a besieged city.

Miller's awesome. No one better. I love when he has to adjust his timing to sync up to the fly overs.
