    Re: McNair DUI Update

The Sun is reporting the charges have been dropped. The brother in law had his charge reduced to reckless driving.

The brother-in-law's charges were reduced to reckless driving. If the case had been *any* good, they would at least have pressed for a plea to DUI from *him*.

This outcome suggests what I was saying from the beginning - the facts as reported indicated a difficult prosecution against the brother and a nearly impossible one against McNair.

    Good stuff.

    It's a stupid law anyway.

I was surprised by what they said the penalty would be for his brother. Seems harsh for reckless driving. Does he have priors?

Good. Exactly what should have happened. That charge / law is complete BS.

One question to everyone out there
If mcnair was on any other team would anyone in here be saying that the law is stupid?
Also think about it, It makes people be responsible I think its a good law to help reduce the amount of accidents and drunk driving deaths out there on the roads , think about if you had a kid driving home from work around midnight and a drunk driver hit them. but the owner was even more drunk and handed his keys off, would you think the law is stupid then?
    Just asking

    *sorry about the grammer*

Jgg, I understand your argument. The problem with the law isn't it's intent, it comes down to the fact that whoever takes the keys is then responsible for his/her own actions. It's not like the person who owns the car is forcing them to drive. The friend should then take the responsibility to admit he/she is not in any shape to drive. I can honestly say that I have handed my keys off to a friend to drive, because he/she told me they were good to drive. I didn't watch them all night to see how much they drank, and they seemed sober to me.

If I lost a child, or anyone due to a drunk driver, obviously I would be upset. I think I would be upset with the decision of driver, whether he/she was the owner of the car or not. We don't all walk around with breathalizers to test our friends when they tell us they can drive us home...
