Isn't Ben is Super Bowl MVP.

Simms: "I like the punt, don't put the quarterback at risk"

How about just running the ball and killing clock, then punting on 4th down like most teams do?

I don't think he ever won it. I know Santonio got it for the 2nd win. Not sure who got it when they beat Seattle, maybe Hines.

Well, Bill Simmons did a pretty good job yesterday of explaining why New England fans shouldn't be celebrating this game:

I have never been more frightened for a Patriots game. It's the first-ever Boston sporting event with zero upside. Name one result that would make Patriots fans feel fantastic afterwards. For example, let's say the Patriots win by 35, with Brady finishing 34-for-35 for 450 yards and 6 TDs. What does that mean? So the no. 1 seed Patriots took care of business at home, after a bye week, by blowing out a .500 team featuring a QB who can't throw a 10-yard out, an overworked running back who's running on fumes and three above-average defensive players (and they're six days removed from one of the most emotional victories in recent football history, no less)? Can you really celebrate that?
Seems like a good take to me (and nice call on his part, Brady did get 6 TD's). Denver just sucks. No reason to unfurl the AFC champion banner yet. We'll see if the Ravens can step up next week.

Just checked. Your right he isn't a SB MVP.

    Yup. He actually said:

-The Ravens have the best D left in the tournament
-The road is wide open for them
    -Now is the time
-He expects them to play next weekend in what should be a very good game in NE

    Wow.

Even with the evening stinker, I have to say it was an awesome day of football. SF-NO turned out to be exactly as fantastic as I expected it to be ever since it became pretty clear that both teams were good and that they'd definitely be the 2nd and 3rd seed, whichever order, some 2+ months ago.

I don't know if it was covered earlier in this thread (I just got home and don't feel like looking through 25 pgs of thread), but did anyone else notice how the patriots receivers, especially Gronkowski, were getting away with pushing off from the denver dbs on almost every play? I know that's part of the new NFL and all but it was pretty blatant on most of the patriots big plays.

Re: Divisional Round Playoff Game Thread.

Going into tomorrow, there's a possibility of both conference championships being #1 vs #2, as well as the possibility of home teams going 8-0 through the first two weekends.

The former has happened 7 times in the 21 years of the current playoff format, or 33% of the time. Last time was 2004.

The latter has never happened....best home teams have done through two rounds was 7-1, in 2000 (home teams 4-0 in wildcard round, Ravens were only road team to win in divisional round).

So, odds and history points to at least one road team winning tomorrow. Question is...who is it?

    Yes, it was brought up.

I previously predicted wins by all home teams this weekend, but I give the G-men a chance.

So we're blaming the refs before the game is even scheduled yet?

Another horrible call by the officials. That was definitely a fumble. Ball was clearly coming out before he was down.

    Re: Divisional Round Thread

Man if the Giants win Brady will be the only pretty boy QB left in the post season. Eli is good but for most of his career he's gotten the Flacco treatment. He's not really a media darling like Rogers.
