Some Notes on Dean Pees' tenure as DC in NE
In 2006, Pees’ unit set a franchise-record for points allowed per game (14.8), which was also the second lowest total in the NFL.
In 2007, the Pats went 16-0 (lost in Super Bowl to Giants) and Pees lead a unit that allowed the fewest yards by a New England defense in 28 years. They were second in the league with 47 sacks.
In 2008, the defense allowed just 309.9 yards per game, good for second best in the league.
In 2009, Pees’ final year, the Pats finished fifth in scoring defense.
After his departure, New England’s defense plummeted to 25th and 31st in yards allowed per game in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

Not bad, I'll be interested to see how his personality/attitude is.

Yea, I was looking at that stuff too Ravor.
Pees is a good choice for DC and is pretty aggressive with his blitzes IIRC. Belichek knows how to get the most out of his coaches and being that he is a defensive guy himself and had Pees as the DC tells me all I need to know about what Pees brings to the table. When it comes to quarterbacks, don't pay attention to stats; pay attention to guys who make crucial plays at crucial times. -Gil Brandt

Congrats to Dean.
NOTE: Ravens need to increase their scores on defense because Cameron needs his ass covered for yet another year. After 5 years of early exits, the journey is finally complete.

Re: Some Notes on Dean Pees' tenure as DC in NE
His credentials look pretty solid, but why was he let go in NE after several successful seasons?

His contract expired.
He's a very vocal and fiery guy. He said there will be no changes to the defense.
In other words, he'll be someone's HC in 2013. Lol!!!

I agree. I like that Pees wont change the defense all that much- keep the style that worked (unlike Mattison).
Now lock up that beast of a CB we have, maybe try and extend Cary Williams, add a pass rusher and lets watch them ball. Gonna need a good defense next year against all those top teams (NE, Pitt, Cinci, Houston, SD, Dallas, NYGiants).

Re: Some Notes on Dean Pees' tenure as DC in NE
I'd be curious to know the dirt on why he left when his contract expired. Usually successful DC's are renewed. I'm not saying I don't like the hire, because I do, I'm just curious about NE.
