The Steelers really ARE in cap trouble.

I think the steelers ARE shopping him. If they really wanted to keep him they would have given him an unrealistic tag of a 1st and 3rd tender. The fact they won't spring for an extra mill tells me they are hurting and he's looking to get paid.

That tag is gone. The new CBA does not have that tag.

I agree. much more complete WR. Id rather face Wallace 2x a year than Brown personally.

If he was as dynamic as the vincent jacksons, andre and calvin johnsons of the world he would have done a lot more without being double covered. those are numbers those guys get when being double covered. I think the gameplan last year was let Wallace get his and stop Sanders and Brown, it worked.

Whether or not he holds out if he only receives the 1st Rd Tender is another question, but maybe that gives them enough time to work the cap and make something happen long term.

Just looking at the teams picking from 20-32...

    20. Tennessee - Depending on who is available they could look at Wallace as another weapon for Jake Locker. Once Britt went down their offense kind of sputtered out and everyone stacked the box against CJ. Perhaps Mike Munchak looks at this as an opportunity to open things up for Locker and CJ.

    21. Cinci - this is actually their original pick. I doubt they'd go after Mike Wallace because at the end of the day Mike Brown is still a cheap ass owner, but they could use Wallace as Jerome Simpson is likely not coming back.

    22. Cleveland - this is not their original pick, so they cannot use this.

    23. Detroit - No way they shell out big bucks for Megatron and then trade for Mike Wallace to shell out more big bucks for him.

    24. Pittsburgh - hoping no one takes Mike Wallace from them...haha

    25. Denver - don't really need another WR and they probably have bigger concerns on the defensive side of the ball.

    26. Houston - They actually really could use a #2 receiver to take attention away from Andre Johnson. Kevin Walter sucks and Jacoby Jones sucks. They'd likely use this pick on a WR anyway, so why not get a proven 25 year old vet?

    27. New England - not their original pick. Got this from the Saints trading up for Mark Ingram last year.

    28. Green Bay - Doubtful. They have a stable of WR's.

    29. Baltimore - Ozzie doesn't like trading 1st round picks, but if they are considering a 1st round WR then it could make sense. Ravens don't have a lot of cap room either though and with Rice, Flacco, Webb, and Grubbs all vying for new contracts there just isnt enough to go around on a high dollar WR.

    30. San Fran - They re-signed their big FA in Ahmad Brooks. Alex Smith will definitely re-sign there. They have money to spend and not a lot of folks to really spend it on (after Carlos Rodgers maybe) and they really need a #1 WR to compliment Crabtree. They are probably considering using this pick on a WR anyway...so again, why not a proven WR who is 25 yrs old?

    31. New England - this is their original pick and I suppose there is a possibility considering they wanted Chad Johnson to be that deep vertical WR and he just never filled that role. They have to determine what they want to do with Welker, but since Tommi Brady is going to be 36 years old there may be some urgency to try and win 1 more SB before he retires. Wallace would definitely be the icing on the cake and make their already prolific passing attack that much more prolific.

    32. New York Giants - they don't need Mike Wallace and have other concerns. Still, Jerry Reese is a strict BPA kind of guy and there is no doubt that Mike Wallace - as a player - is and would be better than any person the Giants could draft here. They need to pay Victor Cruz though and Hakeem Nicks is going to be wanting a new deal in the near future as well.

    Not surprising AT ALL. Haha.

Rex wants a Baltimore north...he's missing 2 key components though...Ray Lewis and Ed Reed.

It's possible but with Colston and Jackson also out there, some teams may just give them an offer. The more I think about it the less likely I think it is that anyone makes an offer. It's just too much to give up between the 1st and the massive contract.

Both Jackson and Colston are almost 30 years old and have had injury issues in the past. Both of these guys are probably at the point where they are as good as they are going to be. VJax will undoubtedly slow down pretty quickly given his size.

Wallace is 25 years old, a proven vertical receiver with good hands, and he's pretty durable and hasn't had any major issues with injuries. He hasn't even played his best football yet.

Lloyd will have to weight his options. He could stay in St. Louis with a QB he likes and is comfortable with, to help them get on track, or he could go to New England where he'd be all, but guaranteed a playoff appearance.

Not if the league suspends him, which they most certainly will.

There is a trap to fall into with Colston and I was one person who did. Teams are going to think that they can isolate Colston on the outside successfully, using Colston as a pure outside #1. New Orleans didn't use him that way. They moved him around a lot and he spent a lot of time in the slot. Teams that fall into the trap will be disappointed, even if Colston stays healthy.

To me it's a no brainer. He's not a spring chicken so he might as well try to get while the getting's good and that is in New England. What WR doesn't want an opportunity to play with one of the best QB's ever?

so realistically about 4 teams that would even consider it. Ten, Hou, SF and maybe NE. I dont think Ten needs him because Britt gives them everything Wallace would and more and will be needing a contract soon, plus theyre still kind of rebuilding and dont need an overpriced FA to put them over the top. Houston is in a very similar position, they have Andre and despite his injury woes, gives them everything wallace does and more. San Fran would be an intriguing option as would NE. Both could really use that vertical guy, but with Welker needing resigned i doubt they drop 15+ million into the position in one year, especially with their problems on defense. San Fran is the only one that doesnt have a true WR that in my mind would actually benefit from trading for him, but its a young team that had success without him. using that first round pick on a WR instead of Wallace would save them a good bit of money and give them a young WR to grow with Kaepernick or the future QB. Not sure if theyll invest longterm in Smith or not. Definitely an intriguing option, but really the only realistic one i could see out of those you listed. I just think teams value their picks too much to even consider it, except maybe dan snyder and hes already trading his for RGIII. If Wallace was Calvin Johnson, i think you see more of a possibility, but those guys dont hit the market typically.

I see 4 teams that "could" make a go at it in picks 20-32, but you'd also have to take into consideration that the Bears, Chargers, and Eagles could also be interested. I think most teams picking in the top 15 would likely not entertain it too much, but I suppose there are teams that could.

And I really do think Houston could make a play for him. They have money to spend, they have a top defense, a top running game, a heck of an OL, and they'll be getting their starting QB back. Jacoby Jones is a free agent, Kevin Walter is more of a slot guy at best, and after him they don't have anyone at all on their current roster and at pick 26 in round 1 guys like Floyd and Blackmon will definitely be gone, Kendall Wright Jr could be gone, Alshon Jeffrey still has a lot of question marks, and Stephen Hill might not be worth the 26th overall pick.

    Mike Wallace is though.
