Re: Free Agent Tracker -- Post FA News and Notes Here (merged)

As to the debate about Wallace and Brown, I don't see how you can just discount an entire season, even if it is a rookie season. That sounds like cherry picking.

The reality is that Wallace and Brown represent two different styles at WR. Brown's style better benefited the team late in the season, because A.) Ben couldn't really throw deep the way he liked and B.) Defenses weren't going to let him anyway.

Brown is more of a short- intermediate range WR. Even then, Wallace ended up with four times the amount of TDs. I am usually not one for statistics, but once the multiplier reaches 3 I begin to take notice.

A significant portion of Brown's contributions came from Special teams. People easily fall in 'like' with that sort of thing.

At the end of the day, we'll have to see what Brown does without Wallace, because they aren't going to keep both. I'm not sure that Pittsburgh could afford to tag Wallace next year.

So tbh they had equally good seasons, but a thing you have to remember is after week 8 Wallace basically vanished. The most he had after week 8 was 4 catches for 82 yards. Antonio Brown had a much better season down the stretch.
Like others have said they are two different receivers. Lets not forget though that Wallace was usually facing his opponents best corner with help over the top. Think Brown benefits greatly from the attention Wallace demands from the defense.

    Mike Wallace = Michael Ervin
    Antonio Brown = Alvin Harper

Harper always looked good when on the field with Ervin who alwasy drew the other teams best DB and/or double coverage. When Harper struck out on his own to be "the guy", he was a big disappointment.

My opinion is the Brown benefits from the opportunity created by Wallace. To Brown's credit, he takes advantage of those opportunities well. The Steelers would be better off keeping both of them if they can. If Wallace leaves, don't expect Brown to fill in his shoes. UGh! Talking nice about Steelers....

Our best corner thinks Brown is better, and he covers both.

Steelers receiver Mike Wallace has become one of the great young wideouts in the NFL. But Ravens cornerback Lardarius Webb thinks there’s even a greater receiver.

    On the same team.

“Every time somebody asks me [a question], they’re always talking about Mike Wallace. But they have a guy No. 84 in Antonio Brown who is better than 17 [Wallace] in all aspects of the game,” Webb said, via Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com. “He’s a great returner, a great wide receiver.”

If it's 3rd and 12 and the Steelers need a first down, they are looking for Brown.

    Bengals re-sign Pacman Jones.

    Broncos sign CB Tracey Porter.

end of discussion. I dont need stats to tell me what i see on the field. Brown > Wallace. thats not saying they dont benefit from each other in the system but Brown just gives you more as a WR. Better hands, better routes, more consistent, and even though hes not Wallace fast, hes still fast, as is Sanders who could easily take the top off just like Wallace. Its like Dickson vs Pitta, they have to respect dickson because of his athletic ability, but Pitta is the better TE, even though he had less stats, he was more efficient with his targets. If you take away Wallace im sure, Brown would be hampered somewhat, but with more targets i dont think youd actually lose as much at the end of the day.

absolutely. Their leading all time WR, that asshole that just retired, kind of the same deal. he was always the go to guy because he had sure hands and ran good routes. the fastest player doesnt mean hes your best.

Ravens sign special team ace Ace Graham to a two year deal. He was on the NFC pro bowl roster as a special teamer last season and ranks third overall in ST tackles since 2007. Offers depth at CB and safety too.

He's a real good hitter. Graham is one of those guys you see on the highlight reels because of his big special teams hits. Good addition for the coverage teams.

awesome, i was curious if he played CB exclusively or not being 6' 200lbs. That to me makes it a great signing. we just filled 3 positions with one player.
