Re: Free Agent Tracker -- Post FA News and Notes Here (merged)
which is why its a priority because hes one injury away from being in that position even with rice. AA very well may be a good back, but i dont like the idea of a 7th round inexperienced RB trying to take over 30+% of the offense. we need either a solid vet with some tread left or a higher round draft pick, thats more capable. thats not really a knock on AA to call him a good backup or split carry back, but even that is unknown.

Don't forget about Damien Berry from the practice squad.

Re: Free Agent Tracker -- Post FA News and Notes Here (merged)
Came here to check on peoples' opinions on Brandon Jacobs. I would love to see him as a Raven, but understand money would obviously be an issue. Question is, would we be able to afford him at anything more than vet minimum? Not saying he would take that, just a theoretical.
Also, I really hate how this thread has 128 pages. Makes no sense. Have to scroll through numerous pages to get updates. It's what makes this site inefficient as opposed to just checking PFT or Twitter. I get that this is a Ravens discussion board, but why not have multiple threads for different FAs? Re: Free Agent Tracker -- Post FA News and Notes Here (merged)
When I was younger, and Jacobs was just starting to split carries with Tiki I was fascinated by how someone that big could play running back. I expected to see him truck line backers and fall forward for extra yardage on every play.
What I've seen the past three years is a running back that tip toes to the line of scrimmage, tries to jump over people all the time, and doesn't follow his blocking. And he has a big mouth.

Regarding Brandon Jacobs - interested, but only for the right price.
If they're interested in a vet back I'd rather see Ryan Grant, Joseph Addai, Jackie Battle, or Ronnie Brown. When it comes to quarterbacks, don't pay attention to stats; pay attention to guys who make crucial plays at crucial times. -Gil Brandt

Re: Free Agent Tracker -- Post FA News and Notes Here (merged)
Perfect example is the great post you just made in the draft thread. A lot of thought and effort must have went into your post (ranking players at every position). As someone who hasn't spent as much time as in previous years of following the draft, I learned a lot from reading your post. Unfortunately, it is in a thread of over 100 pages. While your post was obviously related to the draft, it clearly and rightfully deserves its own thread.
I could see how people posting the same news thread could be repetitive, and I'm not saying those threads shouldn't be merged. But having 2 100+ page threads on overarching topics like the draft and free agency seems asinine to me.Founder of The J. Peterman Company - JPeterman.com - Follow me on Twitter

Re: Free Agent Tracker -- Post FA News and Notes Here (merged)
certain topics could, maybe even should, have their own thread. Wicked doing his one "Mock Thread" would be a good example. overall i think the large thread is doing exactly what its intended for, Keeping you up to date on the latest and having discussions on such news. it goes off on tangents once in awhile but overall i think its working exactly as intended. It would be hard to catch up if only visiting the site once in awhile, but youre missing out on information that way regardless and a lot of separate threads would still be lost, especially the older ones. To daily users its working fine.

You know I had this same discussion with a couple of the mods back in December time frame, but they were all pretty adament about merging "like" threads. I know most of the threads that I start/contribute a lot to I try to keep it as on topic as possible.
I see your point. It just doesn't seem like the mods here want to really change it.
You could PM someone like HoustonRaven or PSU Asskicker or even Tony himself and request that a change be made.Last edited by wickedsolo; 03-28-2012 at 07:18 AM.

Re: Free Agent Tracker -- Post FA News and Notes Here (merged)
thing is though, if we have a different FA thread for every big name, tebow, manning, williams, all the ravens players, then mock drafts etc etc, a lot of good discussion threads get lost on to the 2nd page and are never seen again. I never go to the second page, because its old stuff, but if we start creating 10 threads a day just to break things up, good topics get missed all together

Re: Free Agent Tracker -- Post FA News and Notes Here (merged)
Would they really, though? That's the beauty of a forum- the most in demand topics stay at the top. We could easily have one thread for all Tebow updates and one for Manning. That would allow people to keep updated on those players, instead of having to dig through a 100+ page thread for opinions or updates on a specific player.

Anyone think Cleveland might be interested in trading for Sam Bradford???
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d...about-bradford
Cleveland would probably send #4 overall pick and potentially 37th overall pick in this year's draft and potentially next year's 1st rounder. When it comes to quarterbacks, don't pay attention to stats; pay attention to guys who make crucial plays at crucial times. -Gil Brandt

i'm glad we didn't get jacobs. living here, i got to see him every week need only a few yards and instead of putting his head down and trucking forward, he would go left or right.

Re: Free Agent Tracker -- Post FA News and Notes Here (merged)
well if you want to get reall particular there is a non ravens part of the forum where everything non ravens related should be, so there wouldnt even be a thread for manning or tebow in here at all... Thats one thing im not a fan off on this board, too much non ravens related talk in ravens part of the forum, but it is what it is
